I had a day off yesterday, so it was time for some personal admin. GadgetGuy\u2019s editor, Chris Button, recently wrote about how he\u00a0saved\u00a0$288 a year<\/a> and doubled his internet download speed. I knew I could save around $15 a month by changing my NBN provider.<\/p>\n

Not only would I save money, but also increase my home internet speed by 10 times for downloads and double for uploads.<\/p>\n

However, I have a family using email addresses with my current NBN retailer. If we left, the email addresses would be lost.\u00a0We need at least six months to migrate to our Gmail accounts.\u00a0So, I contacted my NBN retailer yesterday and told them I wanted a better deal, or I would leave. Ten minutes later, my retailer was offering me ten times the speed at the same price for the next 12 months. Problem solved.<\/p>\n

Ten minutes after that, my internet switched off for a few seconds, and when it came back online, I had a download speed of 571Mbps, which is 11.4 times faster than it was just 20 minutes before.<\/p>\n

So when on a roll, why stop? My electricity provider sent me an email to inform me that my old plan was ending and that my pricing would be increasing by 15 per cent.<\/p>\n

So, I used the government\u2019s\u00a0Energy Made Easy<\/a>\u00a0comparison tool, and in about 15 minutes, I found a plan that was slightly cheaper than my old plan and a $150 rebate for signing up with a new retailer. I never spoke to anyone. I just used my keyboard and did an identity check.<\/p>\n

A great result for around half an hour\u2019s work, you could even do it in your lunch hour.<\/p>\n

I already get an amazing mobile deal and pay $170 a year for my 125GB plan, which works out to be $14.16 a month. How much are you paying? How much could you save?<\/p>\n

To find better deals, look into the weekly supermarket catalogues, which is what I did, or browse the cheapest SIM plans<\/a> and cheapest NBN plans<\/a> online.<\/p>\n
