{"id":252951,"date":"2025-09-25T06:24:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T06:24:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/252951\/"},"modified":"2025-09-25T06:24:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T06:24:12","slug":"william-shatner-rushed-to-hospital-after-suffering-medical-emergency-at-la-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/252951\/","title":{"rendered":"William Shatner rushed to hospital after suffering medical emergency at LA home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beloved Hollywood icon William Shatner was rushed to the hospital after he experienced a medical emergency on Wednesday afternoon. <\/p>\n<p>Shatner, 94, had an issue with his blood sugar while at his Los Angeles home and was hospitalized, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2025\/09\/24\/william-shatner-rushed-to-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">TMZ<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The actor, best known for his role as Captain James T. Variety via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>An LAFD ambulance was sent to his home as a precaution, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>Shatner was then taken to a local hospital for evaluation, where he was doing \u201cgood\u201d and \u201cresting comfortably.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Post has reached out to Shatner\u2019s representatives for comment. <\/p>\n<p>The Hollywood legend has been open about his ongoing health issues throughout his acting career.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2024, Shatner revealed that he had been diagnosed and was treated for stage 4 melanoma \u2014 an advanced and aggressive form of skin cancer that spreads to other parts of the body.<\/p>\n<p>Shatner noticed a simple lump under his right ear and visted his family doctor, who told him not to worry and to massage and monitor it, the \u201cBoston Legal\u201d actor told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healio.com\/news\/dermatology\/20240311\/after-stage-4-melanoma-diagnosis-treatment-william-shatner-shares-new-outlook-on-life\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Healio<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise in the classic science fiction television series \u201cStar Trek.\u201d  Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>However, after waiting about a month, he received a second opinion, which revealed the lump was much more serious than he was led to believe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was melanoma, stage 4,\u201d Shatner said. \u201cI said, \u2018Stage 4?\u2019 And someone in the room said, \u2018Sorry.\u2019 I said, \u201cWhat are you sorry about?\u2019 It was like, \u2018Better pack your things.\u2019 That person who said \u2018sorry,\u2019 that was very sad, like you are going to die. And I was. They said if this [treatment] they used did not work, I had about 5 months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was able to undergo surgery to remove the lump.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The legendary actor credited\u00a0a strict immunotherapy regimen\u00a0with saving his life and making him cancer-free.<\/p>\n<p>Shatner<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/28\/entertainment\/william-shatner-speaks-out-on-ups-and-downs-of-living-with-permanent-tinnitus-after-mishap-on-star-trek-set\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> <\/a>also <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/28\/entertainment\/william-shatner-speaks-out-on-ups-and-downs-of-living-with-permanent-tinnitus-after-mishap-on-star-trek-set\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">suffers from \u201cpermanent\u201d tinnitus<\/a>, which was brought on after he was standing too close to a special effects explosion while filming the \u201cStar Trek\u201d episode, \u201cArena\u201d in 1967.<\/p>\n<p>Tinnitus is a condition that can be temporary or chronic, where people experience ringing or other noises in their ears,\u00a0according to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/tinnitus\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20350156\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> the Mayo Clinic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>(L-R) Blue Origin vice president of mission and flight operations Audrey Powers, Shatner, Planet Labs co-founder Chris Boshuizen and Medidata Solutions co-founder Glen de Vries wave during a media availability on the landing pad of Blue Origin\u2019s New Shepard after they flew into space on October 13, 2021 near Van Horn, Texas.
