We already have financial-services firms with a strong presence here,\u201d Singer, the city\u2019s Republican mayor since 2018, said of the Big Apple business leaders he\u2019s spoken with since last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe expect more inbound calls. We expect to have more people coming because of high taxes [in New York] \u2014 and we\u2019re ready,\u201d he said, adding that some of the inquiries he\u2019s received have come from leaders of financial services and tech industries.<\/p>\n<p>Boca has no income tax or business taxes, while <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/29\/us-news\/zohran-mamdani-doubles-down-on-plan-to-target-richer-and-whiter-neighborhoods\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mamdani said he plans <\/a>to raise both as well as property taxes on some wealthier, mostly white neighborhoods to fund his $10 billion socialist utopia.<\/p>\n<p>Boca has no income tax or business taxes, while Mamdani said he plans to raise both. Erik Pendzich\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>In Boca \u2014 a city of 103,000 residents and already home to many well-heeled former New Yorkers \u2014 property taxes on corporations and residents fund city services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/28\/us-news\/electing-socialist-zohran-mamdani-nyc-mayor-would-spur-cop-exodus-rising-crime-experts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">are ready to show you<\/a> a better quality of life,\u201d Singer said of future potential New York transplants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be harder for people to stay in New York,\u201d he said.  \u201cSocialism is a terrible idea that has failed everywhere it\u2019s been implemented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are ready to show you a better quality of life,\u201d Singer said of future potential New York transplants. Tribune News Service via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>In his eyes, the Big Apple is no longer the city that progressed and thrived under the leadership of Mayors Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg.<\/p>\n<p>Boca now has the lowest property tax rate in Florida while Mamdani is proposing a new 2% tax on millionaires and higher corporate taxes and a \u201csky-high cost of living,\u201d Singer said.<\/p>\n<p>Boca, with miles of beaches and 49 parks, also is business-friendly with streamlined city services, while Mamdani is proposing \u201cnew socialist agencies\u201d and \u201ccity-run groceries\u201d and more bureaucracy, the Florida mayor said.<\/p>\n<p>Boca now has the lowest property tax rate in Florida while Mamdani is proposing a new 2% tax on millionaires. Venu \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n<p>Singer said his city has \u201cbalanced growth\u201d with beaches, sunshine and safety while NYC faces \u201cforced rent freezes, 200,000-government built apartments\u201d and less private investment.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/29\/us-news\/zohran-mamdani-doubles-down-on-plan-to-target-richer-and-whiter-neighborhoods\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">during an interview on NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet The Press\u201d<\/a> on Sunday, defended his grandiose tax and spending proposals \u2014 including free buses, city-run grocery stories, housing expansion and freezing rents \u2014 as attacking the affordability crisis, not accelerating it.<\/p>\n<p>He also said, \u201cI don\u2019t think we should have billionaires.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Boca also is business-friendly with streamlined city services, while Mamdani is proposing \u201cnew socialist agencies\u201d and \u201ccity-run groceries.\u201d REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani said wealthy New Yorkers are leaving because of quality-of-life concerns, not because of having to pay higher taxes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd when they do leave, it\u2019s actually to other states considered high-tax: New Jersey, California,\u201d Mamdani said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason I want to increase these taxes on the top 1%, the most profitable corporations, is to increase the quality of life for everyone, including those who are going to be taxed,\u201d  he said.<\/p>\n<p>Attacking the high cost of living will help employers attract and retain workers, he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Give us your rich and downtrodden capitalists!
