His mother, meanwhile, previously worked at a massage school in Texas, according to a currently inaccessible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=1120093047800&amp;set=pb.1391277220.-2207520000&amp;type=3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook profile<\/a>. Jahn was unemployed but had taken an interest in coding, his brother added. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/joshua-jahn-9b5840135\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LinkedIn profile<\/a> with Joshua Jahn\u2019s name shows affiliation with the Boy Scouts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">Two properties are connected to the shooter: one in Fairview, Texas, and another in Durant, Okla. Jahn\u2019s brother Noah told NBC that they were planning to move to Oklahoma to a property owned by their parents and that the last time he saw his brother was two weeks ago at their parents\u2019 house. Law enforcement officials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1NhhnAGuKuU\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">visited<\/a> both properties as part of an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Previously attended UT Dallas<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">The LinkedIn profile appearing to be from Jahn also shows that he had attended the University of Texas at Dallas from 2014 to 2015 and Collin College from 2015 to 2017, studying in the fields of mechanical engineering and computer science, respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee mb-0 focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">Collin College confirmed in an email to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.keranews.org\/news\/2025-09-24\/joshua-jahn-what-we-know-shooting-murder-suicide-dallas-ice\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">local media outlet KERA<\/a> that a student with the same name as Jahn attended on and off until 2018. The University of Texas at Dallas, in a statement to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/news\/local\/dallas-county\/joshua-jahn-suspect-deadly-shooting-dallas-ice-facility\/287-28c99bdc-6c24-4440-a995-3f4034238906\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">local ABC affiliate<\/a>, said that a person with the same name and birthday \u201cbriefly attended UT Dallas over a decade ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">The LinkedIn profile also shows that Jahn worked for seven months in 2018 and 2019 in Solartime USA, a Texas-based solar energy company. The company\u2019s CEO, Martyna Kowalczyk, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ice-facility-shooting-dallas-immigration-d49f76ffc95572970ede58ef15769fe4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told the Associated Press<\/a> in a statement that Jahn worked at her company for a few months \u201cmany years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Appeared familiar with a rifle<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">Jahn\u2019s brother Noah told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcdfw.com\/news\/national-international\/dallas-ice-facility-shooter\/3923616\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBC News<\/a> that the suspect knew how to use their parents\u2019 rifle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">But Noah Jahn claimed that his brother was \u201cnot a marksman\u201d and also cast doubt that Jahn would have been able to fire with accuracy from the nearby roof.<\/p>\n<p>Interested in video games and internet culture<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">Two of Jahn\u2019s friends, who asked not to be identified, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/news\/local\/dallas-county\/joshua-jahn-suspect-deadly-shooting-dallas-ice-facility\/287-28c99bdc-6c24-4440-a995-3f4034238906\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told ABC News<\/a> that they remember him as a person with a deep interest in video games and internet culture.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee mb-0 focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">\u201cThis is a complete shock to me,\u201d one of the friends said, adding that Jahn \u201cwas the least political\u201d of all the people he knew in high school. \u201cHe liked playing video games,\u201d the friend added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">The friends <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/news\/local\/dallas-county\/joshua-jahn-suspect-deadly-shooting-dallas-ice-facility\/287-28c99bdc-6c24-4440-a995-3f4034238906\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">provided ABC News<\/a> with a username for the gaming platform Steam that they said belonged to Jahn. The Steam profile, ABC News reported, showed its user spent over 10,000 hours playing games like Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Rust.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">The username is also linked to a Reddit account. ABC News reported that the Reddit account had not been used in around six years and that previous posts point to an interest in gaming and smoking marijuana. A spokesperson for Reddit told ABC News that they\u2019ve \u201csuspended the account out of an abundance of caution\u201d and that they \u201ccan\u2019t say for sure whether this account was associated with the suspect.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">TIME could not independently verify the accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Had a drug-related criminal history<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">Public records indicate Jahn had previously run afoul of the law.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee mb-0 focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">In June 2016, Jahn pleaded guilty to delivery of marijuana weighing between a quarter of an ounce and five pounds, according to public records. He was fined $500 and was placed on probation for five years, but a judge approved an early release in March 2017 based on the recommendation of community supervision officials due to Jahn\u2019s regular reporting and compliance. The legal proceedings were subsequently dismissed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">The AP reported that in late 2017, Jahn drove cross-country for a job involving harvesting marijuana, according to Ryan Sanderson, who owns a legal cannabis farm in Washington state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text mb-6 self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">\u201cHe\u2019s a young kid, a thousand miles from home, didn\u2019t really seem to have any direction, living out of his car at such a young age,\u201d Sanderson told AP. \u201cI don\u2019t remember him being that abnormal. He didn\u2019t seem to fight with anyone or cause trouble. He kept his head down and stayed working.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A registered independent in Oklahoma<\/p>\n<p class=\"rich-text self-baseline font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee mb-0 focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">Jahn\u2019s motive hasn\u2019t been ascertained, but many, including Trump Administration officials, have speculated about the suspect\u2019s ideological leanings. Vice President J.D.
