NBC 5 Chicago (WMAQ-TV) and Telemundo Chicago (WSNS-TV) announced 3,347 pets were adopted from area animal shelters during NBCUniversal Local\u2019s 11th annual Clear The Shelters pet adoption and donation campaign from Aug. 1 to Sept. 1.<\/p>\n
Nationwide, the 2025 campaign helped 160,165 <\/strong>pets find new homes and raised more than $628,000<\/strong> for participating animal shelters \u2013 exceeding last year\u2019s total by more than $125,000<\/strong> and the highest fundraising total since 2020.<\/p>\n Since its 2015 inception, Clear The Shelters has now led to more than 1.3 million<\/strong> pet adoptions and generated more than $5.6 million<\/strong> in funds benefiting shelters across the nation.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re honored to once again partner with local shelters and rescues to help pets find loving homes and support the compassionate work of those who care for them,\u201d said Kevin Cross, President & General Manager, NBCUniversal Local Chicago. \u201cOur annual pet adoption campaign continues to make a meaningful impact across the Chicago area, and we\u2019re grateful to everyone who adopted or donated this year.\u201d<\/p>\n The 2025 Clear The Shelters campaign was conducted by 129<\/strong> NBC- and Telemundo-owned and affiliated stations, which partnered with more than 1,735<\/strong> shelters across 49 states, D.C., Puerto Rico and Guam.
