The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Thursday released an after-action report on the devastating January wildfires.<\/p>\n
The review<\/a>, commissioned by the board and completed by the McChrystal Group, did not identify a “single point of failure” in the county’s efforts to warn and evacuate residents as the Eaton<\/a> and Palisades<\/a> fires broke out Jan. 7.<\/p>\n Instead, it found a series of weaknesses, such as “outdated policies, inconsistent practices and communications vulnerabilities. According to the report, those factors hampered the effectiveness of the county’s response.<\/p>\n “While frontline responders acted decisively and, in many cases, heroically, in the face of extraordinary conditions, the events underscored the need for clearer policies, stronger training, integrated tools, and improved public communication,” the report said.<\/p>\n L.A.
