A Hill Country ranch once owned by the late Hollywood legend Shelley Duvall has come on the market<\/a>. The almost 11-acre property in Blanco, which includes several outbuildings and a three-bedroom, two-bath home, is a bargain at a $699,000 asking price.<\/p>\n

The relatively modest home \u2014 shared with musician husband Dan Gilroy \u2014 is an open plan with stone flooring and wood accents throughout. The features include a two-car garage, a butler’s pantry, and a sunroom. The property, at 404 Red Bud Trl., Blanco, is listed by Rodney Topper of Topper Real Estate<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“While the home is in need of repairs and remodeling, it presents an incredible opportunity to restore and customize a piece of both Texas and Hollywood history,” reads the agency’s Zillow write-up. “Perfectly situated just an hour from San Antonio and Austin, and only minutes from downtown Blanco, this property combines privacy, history, and convenience.”<\/p>\n

Born in Fort Worth, Duvall became a Hollywood ingenue after Robert Altman cast her in his black comedy Brewster McCloud. She became the director’s most enduring muse, appearing in Thieves Like Us, Nashville, 3 Women, and Popeye.<\/p>\n

But Stanley Kubrick made her a household name. Duvall’s performance as Wendy Torrance in The Shining, notoriously achieved by the director’s antagonistic style, made her one of the most bankable stars of the ’70s.<\/p>\n

Although she never won an Oscar, she worked with some of the most respected auteurs of 20th-century cinema, including Woody Allen, Terry Gilliam, Jane Campion, Steven Soderbergh, and Tim Burton.<\/p>\n

Still, to Millennials and Gen Z, she might be more recognized for beloved children’s programs like Faerie Tale Theatre and Shelley Duvall’s Bedtime Stories. She sold her production company in the ’90s, acting infrequently and semi-retiring with her menagerie of pets.<\/p>\n

After a long battle with diabetes, Duvall died in July 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Buyers interested in the storied property can contact Topper through the Zillow listing<\/a>. Although many of her personal effects were sold in an estate sale on September 20 and 21, fans can still bid for some of her most valuable memorabilia during an auction<\/a> at the estate on October 30.
