It was a \u201cflawless\u201d performance that carried San Diego native Jessica Sanchez<\/a> over the finish line to win season 20 of \u201cAmerica\u2019s Got Talent\u201d and take home the $1 million prize.<\/p>\n

Sanchez earned America\u2019s votes and walked away as the NBC show\u2019s champion during the results finale that aired on Wednesday night. She cemented her win on Tuesday night with a performance of Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga\u2019s hit \u201cDie With a Smile,\u201d described as \u201cperfection\u201d by judge and actress Sofia Vergara.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The win was nearly 20 years in the making. \u201cAmerica\u2019s Got Talent\u201d viewers were first introduced to Sanchez\u2019s talent during the show\u2019s first season, when she was only 10 years old. She was eliminated during the show\u2019s semifinals.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so important for our 20th anniversary that you came back, most importantly to show that even if you don\u2019t win the first time, you have to always believe in yourself,\u201d judge Simon Cowell said to Sanchez following her performance.<\/p>\n

Sanchez received praise from the judges throughout the season for delivering powerful performances, week after week, all while eight months pregnant.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Union-Tribune in July, Sanchez said she was \u201cblessed\u201d to return to the \u2018America\u2019s Got Talent\u201d stage. \u201cIt\u2019s not like: \u2018I have to do this.\u2019 It\u2019s: \u2018I get to do this\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
