{"id":254448,"date":"2025-09-25T20:38:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T20:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/254448\/"},"modified":"2025-09-25T20:38:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T20:38:14","slug":"longtime-rude-judge-forced-to-resign-after-threats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/254448\/","title":{"rendered":"Longtime &#8216;rude&#8217; judge forced to resign after threats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A longtime New York City judge accused of threatening staffers who complained about his \u201crude\u201d and \u201cunprofessional\u201d behavior with criminal complaints was allowed to quietly resign \u2014 and has already landed a cushy job at a top corporate law firm, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n<p>Former Justice Louis Nock, who has served on benches in Manhattan and Brooklyn since 2015, was also being probed for \u201cimpermissibly\u201d practicing law serving as a $250,000-a-year state supreme court judge,\u00a0according to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct.<\/p>\n<p>Former Justice Louis Nock has served on benches in Manhattan and Brooklyn since 2015, but resigned in the wake of a state judicial board investigation. Anderson Kill P.C.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe underlying complaints against Judge Nock were serious, and the complaints alleging retaliation were especially troubling,\u201d said Robert H. Tembeckjian, who heads the commission. \u201cHis permanent departure from the bench is an appropriate resolution to these matters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his resignation, Nock has agreed to \u201cneither seek nor accept judicial office at any time in the future,\u201d according to the commission.<\/p>\n<p>A trio of complaints starting in 2024 claimed that Nock \u201coften acted in a rude, demeaning and otherwise unprofessional manner toward court staff,\u201d the commission found.<\/p>\n<p>Nock then threatened to file formal grievance complaints against commission staffers unless charges were dropped \u2014 and even threatened a witness with a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<p>The commission was also investigating Nock over complaints that he was providing out-of-state legal services \u2014 expressly prohibited for full-time judges \u2014 and that he used the \u201cprestige of a judicial office to advance his private interests\u201d by using a personal email address titled \u201cjusticelounock.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nock most recently served as a justice at Manhattan Civil Court. Steven Hirsch<\/p>\n<p>Nock also recently drew the ire of a fellow civil court judge, who wrote that Nock \u201cinexplicably declined\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/01\/22\/us-news\/woke-anti-gay-bar-crusader-given-pass-on-psych-eval-despite-plea-from-judge\/?utm_campaign=iphone_nyp&amp;utm_source=pasteboard_app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to order a psychiatric evaluation for a notorious \u201cwoke\u201d crusader<\/a> after she was arrested on stalking and harassment charges after she threatened to murder a dog belonging to the manager of a bar from which she was banned.<\/p>\n<p>Nock denied the charges, but in lieu of further proceedings, he agreed to resign after Labor Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been the greatest honor of my life,\u201d Nock wrote in his resignation letter. \u201cI am looking forward to devoting more substantial time with my wife, three children, and eight grandchildren.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anne Marie Bompart leaving Nock\u2019s courtroom after he declined to order a psych evaluation in January. Steven Hirsch<\/p>\n<p>But Nock is not quite ready to become a full-time grandpa.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, corporate firm Anderson Kill <a href=\"https:\/\/andersonkill.com\/news\/welcome-hon-louis-l-nock-ret\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced that the former justice has joined<\/a> as a shareholder and member of its corporate and commercial litigation group.<\/p>\n<p>Nock\u2019s attorney, Malcolm S. Taub, said the former judge served \u201cwith honor and integrity,\u201d and that Nock believed there was \u201cno basis\u201d for the complaints.<\/p>\n<p>Nock also served in Criminal Court as recently as last year. AP<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJudge Nock was seeking to segue into private practice long before any issues were raised before the commission,\u201d Taub told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was no purpose in moving forward before the commission given the fact that as a result of his longstanding efforts he received a position with a significant law firm.
