NASCAR icon Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his loved ones are mourning the loss of a family member.<\/p>\n

The 50-year-old racing<\/a> icon’s wife has shared a message on the personal situation.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Amy Earnhardt put together a special social media post regarding a tragic family loss.<\/p>\n

Dale Jr. and Amy’s dog, Junebug, died on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

She shared the sad news about the passing of their small Pomeranian with her 321,000+ followers on Instagram.<\/p>\n

“Yesterday my tiny Junebug made his way over the rainbow bridge. My heart is broken,” Amy wrote.<\/p>\n

“I know dogs don\u2019t live forever, but we definitely don\u2019t get them long enough.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m going to miss you my sweet boy.<\/p>\n

“Fly high and I\u2019ll see you again.”<\/p>\n

Amy posted multiple pics of Junebug, including some of him alongside their other family dog, Gus, the regal Irish setter.<\/p>\n

She also shared a snap of Junebug next to a sleeping Dale Jr.<\/p>\n

And Amy shared photos of the late dog with her two daughters, Isla Rose and Nicole Lorraine.<\/p>\n

Fans sent their condolences to Dale Jr. and Amy in the comments.<\/p>\n

“So sorry Amy [love emoji] sending so much love,” one wrote.<\/p>\n

“Oh Amy. I\u2019m so sorry. Y\u2019all gave JuneBug the BEST life ever,” another commented.<\/p>\n

“What a little sweetheart. I\u2019m sorry Amy,” a third said.<\/p>\n

“Gonna miss you sweet Junebug!!!! You were such a great little guy, feisty, loyal and full of life! Tell Dutch we say hello may the two of you have fun in doggy heaven!” a fourth added.<\/p>\n

Racing icon Danica Patrick<\/a> also sent a tribute as she wrote, \u201cOhh sweet Junebug, and your heart. I am so sorry.”<\/p>\n

The Earnhardts had been prepared for Junebug’s passing as he suffered a stroke back in March.<\/p>\n

Dale Jr. appeared on podcasts and opened up about Junebug’s health struggles.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s doing that on a couple of legs where he is not sure where the ground\u2019s at. And he falls over, he falls over like a fainting goat. And not moving very well, for about two days, he was mute.\u00a0I just got a text from Amy that he is barking,” he said.<\/p>\n

“So yesterday, I got him just to growl, just a little bit, because I play with him about his food\u2026 That\u2019s the only way we can get him to take anything down.<\/p>\n

“So it\u2019s touch and go for Junebug.”<\/p>\n
