President <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/news\/politics\/donald-trump\/\" data-autotag=\"26f031d1-9924-4f10-b4e6-019d076113d5\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/2025\/03\/25\/federal-employees-return-office-trump-musk\/78968497007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ordered federal employees<\/a> back to the office earlier this year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But remote work is alive and well, at least for now. Five years into the pandemic workplace revolution, roughly 38% of full-time American workers remained partly or fully remote in August, down from 44% two years earlier, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/news.research.stlouisfed.org\/2025\/08\/fred-adds-new-work-from-home-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">federal data<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Predictably, perhaps, return-to-office mandates seem more popular with employers than employees. Research shows many workers are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/2025\/08\/27\/work-from-home-workers-defy-rto-mandates\/85821219007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quietly defying<\/a> the orders. Some see an emerging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/2025\/06\/29\/work-from-home-double-standard\/84353013007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">double standard<\/a>, with rank-and-filers confined to the office while bosses work where they wish.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Against that backdrop, many job-seekers are searching for companies that remain committed to the work-from-home philosophy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flexjobs.com\/blog\/post\/companies-switching-remote-work-long-term\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sept. 19 report<\/a>, the remote-work site FlexJobs lists 20 companies that have made flexible work a permanent model. All 20 have remote-work policies, which typically guarantee some combination of hybrid and fully remote positions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that the level of remote work is still far, far higher than the levels we saw in 2019, leading into the pandemic, which exploded remote work opportunities,\u201d said Toni Frana, a career expert manager at FlexJobs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These 20 companies made remote work permanent<\/p>\n<p>Here are mini-profiles of 20 companies with permanent remote-work plans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Affirm. <\/strong>The financial services firm markets itself as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.affirm.com\/careers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cremote-first\u201d company<\/a>, with remote work built \u201cinto the DNA of how we do business.\u201d But if offices are your thing, Affirm has them in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, Warsaw, Madrid and London.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allstate. <\/strong>\u201cGood work can happen anywhere,\u201d the insurance giant says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allstatecorporation.com\/stories\/flexible-workplace.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on its website<\/a>. In a 2020 survey, 95% of Allstate workers said they liked the flexibility of remote work. The company says it reaps twice as many applications for positions with flex-work options.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amgen. <\/strong>This biotech firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amgen.com\/responsibility\/healthy-society\/human-capital-management\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">says it offers<\/a> \u201ca flexible workplace approach, based on lessons learned during the pandemic and employee feedback.\u201d Many employees can \u201cchoose, with manager approval, to work fully remote from anywhere within their existing assigned country.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amplify. <\/strong>The curriculum and assessment company offers this credo on its <a href=\"https:\/\/amplify.com\/careers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">career page<\/a>: \u201cRemote first. Brooklyn based. In person sometimes.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Atlassian. <\/strong>Early in the pandemic, this software firm told employees they could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/atlassian-says-employees-they-can-work-from-home-permanently-2020-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">work from home permanently<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlassian.com\/company\/careers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">company says<\/a> its approach \u201cempowers Atlassians to choose where, when and how they deliver their best work.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>BELAY. <\/strong>This firm offers remote staffing services. Not surprisingly, BELAY itself embraces remote work, and has for a while. \u201cSince 2010,\u201d its <a href=\"https:\/\/belaysolutions.com\/our-company\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website says<\/a>, \u201cwe\u2019ve proven that culture isn\u2019t tied to a shared space but to a shared vision.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>CrowdStrike. <\/strong>A cybersecurity technology company, CrowdStrike offers a remote-first work model and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crowdstrike.com\/en-us\/careers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pledges<\/a> to cultivate \u201ca connected culture for every employee, no matter where they are in the world.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dropbox. <\/strong>The global file-sharing and collaboration platform <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.dropbox.com\/topics\/company\/dropbox-goes-virtual-first\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">adopted a \u201cVirtual First\u201d model<\/a> early in the pandemic, pledging that remote work \u201cwill be the primary experience for all employees and the day-to-day default for individual work.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>HubSpot.<\/strong> In the pandemic years, this sales and marketing platform moved from \u201cremote-friendly\u201d to \u201cremote-first.\u201d The firm now offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hubspot.com\/careers-blog\/future-of-work-hybrid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">range of work options<\/a>, from mostly in the office to mostly at home.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Humana. <\/strong>The health insurance provider embraces a range of home- and office-based work models. Its <a href=\"https:\/\/careers.humana.com\/us\/en\/benefits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a> promises, \u201cNo matter where an employee works\u2014from home, from the field, from our offices, or from somewhere in between\u2014they\u2019ll feel welcome here.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kraken. <\/strong>This global cryptocurrency platform <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kraken.com\/careers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">offers<\/a> a \u201cremote-first and work from anywhere\u201d model, with a \u201ccompetitive salary, regardless of where you decide to work.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pearson. <\/strong>An educational publishing firm, Pearson follows a remote-first philosophy. Its <a href=\"https:\/\/pearson.jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a> states, \u201cWe value the well-being of our people. That&#8217;s why, for most roles, we offer flexibility in how and where we work\u2014be it from home, an office, or during non-traditional hours.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pinterest. <\/strong>The website and social media platform offers a flexible work model dubbed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterestcareers.com\/inside-pinterest\/pinflex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PinFlex<\/a>: \u201cFor roles that can be performed anywhere, we encourage employees to work where they choose within their country or region, whether that\u2019s at home, at a Pinterest office, or another virtual location.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reddit.<\/strong> In 2020, the aggregation and social media platform adopted a flexible work model. \u201cMoving forward,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/redditinc.com\/blog\/evolving-reddits-workforce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">company said<\/a>, \u201cteams and team members will have flexibility to explore where they work: in the office, remotely, or a combination of the two.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryder. <\/strong>In the pandemic years, this transportation and logistics company shifted toward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.truckingdive.com\/news\/ryder-secures-longterm-lease-for-new-coral-gables-headquarters\/651011\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">remote and hybrid work<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spotify. <\/strong>The Swedish streaming service has adopted a \u201cWork From Anywhere\u201d program, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeatspotify.com\/being-here\/work-from-anywhere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pledging<\/a>, \u201cwe embrace and support your choice to work either mostly at home or from one of our offices, with the understanding that each will bring a different experience.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>StackAdapt.<\/strong> A marketing and advertising platform, StackAdapt offers a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stackadapt.com\/careers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Work &amp; Wander<\/a>\u201d policy \u201cthat embraces flexible work arrangements around the globe.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stride, Inc. <\/strong>This education management company says <a href=\"https:\/\/stridelearning.com\/careers\/corporate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">90% of its workforce is remote<\/a>: \u201cWe give you the time and flexibility you need to be your best self, professionally and personally.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Twilio. <\/strong>A cloud communications company, Twilio is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twilio.com\/en-us\/blog\/company\/news\/twilio-is-now-a-remote-first-company\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">remote-first<\/a>. A company survey found that 88% of \u201cTwilions\u201d felt productive working remotely, and 99% didn\u2019t want to return to the office fulltime.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vista. <\/strong>This design and marketing company is remote-first.
