One of the cowardly thugs who viciously beat 15-year-old Lesandro \u201cJunior\u201d Guzman-Feliz to death in a Bronx bodega was found dead at an upstate prison,\u00a0state officials said Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Jonaiki Martinez-Estrella, 31, was found dead at the Coxsackie Correctional Facility in upstate New York while serving a 25-years-to-life sentence in the senseless and deadly 2018 gang assault<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cHe deserved it,\u201d Leandra Feliz, the slain teen\u2019s mom told The Post Sunday. \u201cIt\u2019s not going to bring my son back. It doesn\u2019t help the damage he did to me. It doesn\u2019t help the damage he did to my family.<\/p>\n Jonaiki Martinez-Estrella, left, and the others who killed Lesandro \u2018Junior\u2019 Guzman-Feliz flashed gang signs in court.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you use your life to be a gang member, it\u2019s only going to go one of two ways,\u201d she said. \u201cEither going to jail or you\u2019re\u00a0going\u00a0to the cemetery. He went [to] both. That\u2019s the way life works.\u201d<\/p>\n Martinez-Estrella was found unresponsive in his cell shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday, a spokesperson for the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision said.\u00a0<\/p>\n Prison staff attempted CPR, used a defibrillator\u00a0and administered\u00a0Narcan to the killer but he died at the scene.<\/p>\n The vicious mistaken-identity attack shocked the Big Apple after Martinez-Estrella and other members of the Trinitarios gang chased the teen into a Bronx bodega, where they slashed Guzman-Feliz with knives and machetes and beat him to death.<\/p>\n Martinez-Estrella \u2014 who\u00a0was condemned to life in prison without parole<\/a>\u00a0in the brutal, caught-on-camera slaying \u2014 was re-sentenced on the lesser second-degree<\/a> murder conviction, for which he faced up to 25 years to life behind bars, an appellate court ruled.<\/p>\n Lesandro \u2018Junior\u2019 Guzman-Feliz, 15, was viciously beaten and stabbed to death at a Bronx bodega in 2018. Obtained by NY Post<\/p>\n The \u201cextremely heinous\u201d June 20, 2018, machete and knife killing \u201cclearly depicted\u201d Martinez Estrella delivering the fatal slash to Guzman-Feliz\u2019s neck, the Appellate Division, First Department, the ruling said.<\/p>\n Still, the appellate\u00a0judges found that prosecutors failed to meet the high bar for proving first-degree murder in Martinez Estrella\u2019s case \u2014 and he was instead sentenced on the lesser crime.<\/p>\n But in the end the convicted killer ended up with a death sentence \u2014 although authorities have not revealed the circumstances surrounding the gangbanger\u2019s death.<\/p>\n State prison officials said the cause of death will be determined after an examination by the local coroner\u2019s office.\u00a0<\/p>\n The senseless gang attack that killed Lesandro \u2018Junior\u2019 Guzman-Feliz in the Bronx in 2018 shocked the Big Apple.
