SAN ANTONIO \u2014 Officers were dispatched to the Bank of America near Highway 281 and Wurzbach Parkway early Friday morning for a welfare check due to multiple people calling police inquiring about a loud sound.<\/p>\n

FBI, ATF and the San Antonio Fire Department joined in on the investigation. It’s unclear if there was an explosion however arson investigators with SAFD were called to the scene.<\/p>\n

The area around the drive-thru was damaged but it’s unclear what caused the damage. No injuries were reported on scene and no suspect information has been released. <\/p>\n

Friday’s attempted heist was just the latest in a string of ATM robberies that have happened over the past couple of months.<\/p>\n

On Aug. 4<\/a>, four suspects attacked an employee who was restocking an atm along south Zarzamora Street. On Aug. 14<\/a>, robbers used a similar method\u2014 three to four suspects attacked an employee who was restocking an ATM near Loop 410 and south Rigsby on the East Side.<\/p>\n

On Aug. 27<\/a>, police were called to Pleasanton Road near Southwest Military. Investigators said two workers were servicing the ATM when they were attacked by two suspects in dark clothing.<\/p>\n

On Sep. 2<\/a>, two people were detained after a driver was robbed while service an atm along Goliad Road near east Southcross.<\/p>\n

The scene has been secured, and police tell us there is no danger. The ATM lane remains closed while the bank is open.<\/p>\n
