\u201cSo we have two conflicting messages here, and that\u2019s one of the reasons why it could be challenging for some members of the public to emotionally connect with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Duchess of Sussex wore tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry to Kevin Costner\u2019s charity event over the weekend, which experts say is at odds with her desire for a down-to-earth image. B-Team \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n

McCormick was referencing the accessories Markle wore to Kevin Costner\u2019s One805LIVE! charity concert<\/a>\u00a0over the weekend: Princess Diana\u2019s Cartier Tank Fran\u00e7aise watch (worth $24,000), a Jennifer Meyer\u00a0tennis bracelet ($5,000), a Cartier Love bracelet ($7,000) and her diamond engagement ring from Prince Harry (said to be worth $160,000).<\/p>\n

The Duchess of Sussex\u2019s stunning set of jewelry \u2014 which she paired with a chic navy blue\u00a0Carolina Herrera halter dress<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 is worth \u201cmultiple times\u00a0the average annual salary of most people,\u201d the expert noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis definitely makes it harder for the Duchess to be perceived as \u2018one of us.’\u201d<\/p>\n

During an April interview with the New York Times, the \u201cSuits\u201d alum, 44, responded to accusations that her high-class lifestyle came off as \u201cunrelatable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t they know my life hasn\u2019t always been like this?\u201d she posited, gesturing to her sprawling Montecito, Calif., estate<\/a>. At the time, author Julia Moskin also noted that the mom of two seemed \u201cbothered\u201d by claims she\u2019s \u201cout of touch.\u201d<\/p>\n

But on the set of her Netflix series, \u201cWith Love, Meghan,\u201d she\u2019s also been known to don prohibitively expensive clothing \u2014 including a pricey silk frock by Ulla Johnson ($1,000), a $3,000 Carolina Herrera dress and a $600 CO blouse, among others.<\/p>\n

Following the March premiere of \u201cWith Love, Meghan,\u201d <\/a>the \u201cAs Ever\u201d founder linked many of her wardrobe items to her ShopMy store \u2014 though it\u2019s since been removed.<\/p>\n

Royal commentator\u00a0Kinsey Schofield told the Daily Mail she believes Markle\u2019s illustrious wardrobe and jewelry may be about fitting into her neighborhood<\/a> \u2014 which is also occupied by the likes of Oprah Winfrey<\/a> and Gwyneth Paltrow. <\/p>\n
