{"id":257530,"date":"2025-09-27T01:44:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T01:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/257530\/"},"modified":"2025-09-27T01:44:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T01:44:11","slug":"china-remains-no-1-threat-in-space-space-force-general","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/257530\/","title":{"rendered":"China remains No. 1 threat in space: Space Force general"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">China remains America\u2019s top threat in space and is catching up to the United States military\u2019s space capabilities at an \u201cincredible pace,\u201d according to a top Space Force general.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cThey are bringing on capability, I won\u2019t say daily, but at least monthly, that puts our assets at risk,\u201d Lt. Gen. Douglas Schiess, the commander of U.S. Space Forces-Space, told reporters at the annual Air &amp; Space Forces Association conference in National Harbor, Maryland, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cChina is definitely our biggest threat,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">According to Schiess, the Chinese are building a \u201ckill chain,\u201d or attack process, for targeting U.S. maritime, land and air forces \u201cat greater distances than we\u2019ve ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cThey\u2019re using space to be able to make those distances even greater,\u201d Schiess explained. \u201cOn top of that, they are adding counter-space capabilities that then put our assets at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Space Force intelligence suggests the Chinese military likely views <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/space\/2025\/03\/18\/china-demonstrated-satellite-dogfighting-space-force-general-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/space\/2025\/03\/18\/china-demonstrated-satellite-dogfighting-space-force-general-says\/\">counter-space operations<\/a> as a way to deter and counter U.S. military intervention in a regional conflict.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">Bradley Bowman, senior director of the Center on Military and Political Power at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said China\u2019s operations in space are among its \u201cmost concerning\u201d military activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph-sc-1tqpf5s-0 bFwqVI body-paragraph body-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s the ultimate high ground. Space strengthens our intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance [ISR] and targeting capabilities. In other words, it\u2019s our best eyes and ears.
