{"id":257923,"date":"2025-09-27T05:16:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T05:16:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/257923\/"},"modified":"2025-09-27T05:16:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T05:16:11","slug":"artemi-panarin-returns-to-rangers-practice-after-injury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/257923\/","title":{"rendered":"Artemi Panarin returns to Rangers practice after injury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Artemi Panarin returned to practice with the Rangers on Friday after nursing a lower-body injury over the past week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Having skated on his own the previous few days, the star Russian wing sported a red non-contact jersey during the Blueshirts\u2019 first session while playing on a line with Vincent Trocheck and Alexis Lafreni\u00e8re.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite the red jersey, the Rangers said Panarin has been cleared to give and receive contact.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a perfect world, we\u2019d like to get him into a game or two,\u201d head coach Mike Sullivan said after practice Friday at MSG Training Center. \u201cBut a lot of it is going to depend on where he is. Certainly, we\u2019ll err on the side of caution.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Rangers pulled Panarin from team practice and kept him out of the first three exhibition games for what sounded like cautionary reasons. <\/p>\n<p>It is unclear when Panarin, who has led the Rangers in points every season since he signed as a free agent in 2019-20, will make his preseason debut.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.34383202;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37226224\" width=\"793\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/new-york-rangers-artemi-panarin-94537895.jpg\" alt=\"Artemi Panarin\" class=\"wp-image-37226224\"  \/>Artemi Panarin has been cleared for contact.  JASON SZENES FOR THE NEW YORK POST<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan said he likes to see his established players get into at least three exhibition matches. <\/p>\n<p>With only three left, however, it sounds like the 33-year-old will only play in however many he is comfortable with.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Justin Dowling, who has also been dealing with a lower-body injury, skated only with a coach earlier Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Aside from Vladislav Gavrikov and Adam Fox, the defense pairs have largely rotated through the start of training camp between Will Borgen, Braden Schneider, Urho Vaakanainen, Carson Soucy and Scott Morrow.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Asked if he was leaning toward pairings with history \u2014 like Borgen and Soucy from their time in Seattle and Schneider and Vaakanainen from last season in New York \u2014 Sullivan sounded like a coach who is still gathering intel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRead the expert take on the Blueshirts\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for Larry Brooks&#8217; Inside the Rangers, a weekly Sports+ exclusive.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThank you\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t say it doesn\u2019t matter,\u201d Sullivan said. \u201cObviously, if there\u2019s chemistry amongst groups, we try to take advantage of that. And then the other aspect of it is, we\u2019ve got to make decisions with lefty-righty combinations or righty-righty combinations. \u2026 It all depends on what we explore here moving forward and what we see in the types of combinations that potentially we could put together that will give us balance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut, also, from a matchup standpoint, give us an opportunity to put pairs together that we think help us in that capacity.
