Today the badly decomposing body of an elderly woman was found this morning and the senior living facility.

Residents say they’ve been complaining of a foul odor in the facility to property management all week, but their concerns were ignored.

Cathy Eldridge says she first noticed the foul odor on Monday.

“I woke up and went out there,” Eldridge said. “I was like what is this horrible smell. So, I went downstairs and I called the manager. She said, oh, don’t worry about it.”

Eldrige says the Wheatley Park Senior Living property management continued to ignore her concerns. When she woke up this morning and couldn’t breathe because of the smell she called SAPD.

“I said you need to get them over here,” Eldridge sad. “Something is wrong. I’m 70-years-old and I’ve never smelled anything like this.”

When officers arrived, they found 97-year-old Almeda Scott dead in her apartment. Her daughter who has a brain injury was in the apartment with her. SAPD says no foul play is suspected.

“They took the white thing in there and put her in it,” Elderidge said. “It wasn’t like a body. It was a blob. The discomposure was bad.”

The property is managed by McCormack Baron Salazar. Opportunity Home San Antonio which provides housing assistance to seniors through public housing vouchers gave the following statement:

McCormack Baron Salazar is the developer of this apartment complex and oversees the property management company. Over the years, we have seen the installation of a very specialized A/C system that continues to fail, poor management practices, and lack of resident empathy that has caused us to meet with them regularly to address these issues. The result of our demands for accountability is to switch the current property management company in order to secure the wellbeing of this housing community.

Since they continue to manage the day-to-day operations of the property today, direct questions to the McCormack.

When we reached out to McCormack Baron Salazar they gave the following statement:

It is company policy not to comment on matters under investigation by the police.

This is an independent living community. Welfare checks are performed when requested.

Code Compliance says this property has had 21 code violations since January. They also said the complaints they’ve heard this week more violations are on the way.

SAN ANTONIO, Tx — On Wednesday we told you about numerous complaints about unsafe living conditions from residents…

[5133
135611,5229,71485,26528,135610,135612,10565,19139,7202,7203,135609,358,3187,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-258012","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-san-antonio","8":"tag-almeda-scott","9":"tag-america","10":"tag-code-violations","11":"tag-complaints","12":"tag-foul-odor","13":"tag-mccormack-baron-salazar","14":"tag-property-management","15":"tag-resident-safety","16":"tag-san-antonio","17":"tag-sanantonio","18":"tag-senior-living-facility","19":"tag-texas","20":"tag-tx","21":"tag-united-states","22":"tag-united-states-of-america","23":"tag-unitedstates","24":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","25":"tag-us","26":"tag-usa
["GET
