{"id":258020,"date":"2025-09-27T06:09:19","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T06:09:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/258020\/"},"modified":"2025-09-27T06:09:19","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T06:09:19","slug":"hit-and-run-in-west-valley-kills-pedestrian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/258020\/","title":{"rendered":"Hit-and-run in West Valley kills pedestrian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX \u2014 A West Valley man has died after being hit by a car that left the scene of the collision on Thursday night, authorities said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Cathcart, 40, was killed in the crash, which happened while he was crossing the street, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoenix.gov\/content\/dam\/phoenix\/policesite\/mediaadvisories\/2025\/Fatal%209100%20W%20Highland%20Ave.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the Phoenix Police Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Details of deadly hit-and-run in west Phoenix<\/p>\n<p>Around 8 p.m. on Thursday, officers were called due to a pedestrian being hit by a car just south of<a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/EJJnQGf7QUaHuCpZA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> 91st Avenue and Camelback Road<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the scene, officers found Cathcart, who was seriously injured. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, Cathcart was crossing 91st Avenue near Highland Avenue when he was hit.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the car left the scene, but later turned themselves in after hearing about the severity of the crash.<\/p>\n<p>That person was interviewed by detectives, but was released.<\/p>\n<p>Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this crash.<\/p>\n<p>No other details were released.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/J_Vinton52\" data-show-count=\"false\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Follow @J_Vinton52<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px;\">Have a story idea or tip?
