{"id":25819,"date":"2025-06-30T00:45:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-30T00:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/25819\/"},"modified":"2025-06-30T00:45:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-30T00:45:11","slug":"glastonbury-officials-appalled-by-bob-vylans-anti-israel-chant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/25819\/","title":{"rendered":"Glastonbury Officials &#8220;Appalled&#8221; By Bob Vylan&#8217;s Anti-Israel Chant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tGlastonbury officials released a statement Sunday denouncing by the chants and comments made by British punk and hip hop duo <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bob-vylan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bob-vylan\" data-tag=\"bob-vylan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bob Vylan<\/a> from the festival\u2019s stage Saturday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe duo \u2013 Bobby Vylan serves as the singer and guitarist, while Bobbie Vylan plays drums \u2013 led the festival crowd in chants of \u201cDeath, Death To The IDF\u201d and  \u201cFree, Free Palestine.\u201d The duo also made use of the offensive slogan, \u201cFrom the river to the sea, Palestine must be, will be, free.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn a lengthy statement released today, festival organizers said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/glastonbury-festival\/\" id=\"auto-tag_glastonbury-festival\" data-tag=\"glastonbury-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glastonbury Festival<\/a> was created in 1970 as a place for people to come together and rejoice in music, the arts and the best of human endeavour. As a festival, we stand against all forms of war and terrorism. We will always believe in \u2013 and actively campaign for \u2013 hope, unity, peace and love.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWith almost 4,000 performances at Glastonbury 2025, there will inevitably be artists and speakers appearing on our stages whose views we do not share, and a performer\u2019s presence here should never be seen as a tacit endorsement of their opinions and beliefs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cHowever, we are appalled by the statements made from the West Holts stage by Bob Vylan yesterday. Their chants very much crossed a line and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the Festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tEarlier, a BBC spokesperson Bob Vylan\u2019s Glastonbury set today as \u201cdeeply offensive\u201d and said it won\u2019t be making it available on demand. \u201cSome of the comments made during Bob Vylan\u2019s set were deeply offensive,\u201d the BBC statement said. \u201cDuring this live stream on iPlayer, which reflected what was happening on stage, a warning was issued on screen about the very strong and discriminatory language.
