{"id":258321,"date":"2025-09-27T08:53:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T08:53:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/258321\/"},"modified":"2025-09-27T08:53:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T08:53:14","slug":"after-the-hunt-new-york-film-festival-opening-top-3-moment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/258321\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;After The Hunt&#8217; New York Film Festival Opening &#8220;Top 3&#8221; Moment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/after-the-hunt\/\" id=\"auto-tag_after-the-hunt\" data-tag=\"after-the-hunt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">After the Hunt<\/a> star <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/julia-roberts\/\" id=\"auto-tag_julia-roberts\" data-tag=\"julia-roberts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Julia Roberts<\/a> has won an Oscar and opened movies that have made billions at the box office. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tYet Friday night\u2019s premiere of the film on opening night of the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/new-york-film-festival\/\" id=\"auto-tag_new-york-film-festival\" data-tag=\"new-york-film-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Film Festival<\/a>, she said, was a top-shelf highlight of her life and career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI moved to New York when I was 17 years old, and I\u2019m 57, and this is Top 3 great achievements of my New York life,\u201d she told the crowd at Alice Tully Hall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDirector Luca Guadagnino raved about the filmgoers at NYFF, calling them \u201cthe best audience at festivals in the world.\u201d He recalled being an up-and-comer and meeting filmmakers \u201cthat I shall not name\u201d who were telling the younger Guadagnino that \u201ccinema is dead. And I was like, \u2018Why?&#8217;\u201d The New York fest, he continued, \u201ccelebrates cinema in a way that makes us know that cinema is actually alive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWhile the 60-second ovation that followed the screening fell short of <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/08\/after-the-hunt-ovation-julia-roberts-venice-1236501385\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the 6-minute standing O<\/a> it received at its world premiere in Venice, the Tully reception was warm and almost all of the audience lingered for a 15-minute Q&amp;A. NYFF Artistic Director Dennis Lim moderated the discussion with Guadagnino, Roberts, cast members Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri and Michael Stuhlbarg as well as screenwriter Nora Garrett. (Perhaps the most memorable moment was Garfield wincing at the memory of having to act in a sexually aggressive manner toward \u201cNational Treasure Julia Roberts\u201d in one scene, which \u201cthank God\u201d was captured in a single take. \u201cIt was not, in any way shape or form, pleasant,\u201d he dryly added.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAmazon MGM Studios will release After the Hunt theatrically in select theaters on October 10, with a wide break the following week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe 63rd edition of NYFF featured some new personalities delivering introductory remarks. Daniel H. Stern, Chair of the FLC Board of Directors, welcomed the audience. In recent years, the leadoff slot on opening night had been occupied by Lesli Klainberg, president of Lincoln Center, but she departed the organization after last year\u2019s festival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tStern brought Mariko Stern, who became CEO of Lincoln Center last fall, onstage. Addressing the film community, she thanked \u201call of you who enthrall us, all of you who lift us, all of you who teach us. It is such a true, deep joy to be here with you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn addition to \u201copening our eyes\u201d to experience new films, she said she would \u201cinvite you to also open your ears\u201d because Friday night\u2019s screening was the first at Alice Tully Hall to use Dolby Atmos sound. The new system features 120 speakers spread all over the auditorium. (Guadagnino\u2019s well-tuned ear for his soundtracks, plus a score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross helped influence the installation.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNext, Stern introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/daniel-battsek\/\" id=\"auto-tag_daniel-battsek\" data-tag=\"daniel-battsek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Battsek<\/a>, who succeeded Klainberg last April, following executive stints at Miramax Films, Film4 and Buena Vista International.
