JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KATV) \u2014 The Jacksonville Police Department has arrested a man for his role in a shooting on September 26 on charges of Capital Murder.<\/p>\n
Around 8:17, officers responded to the area of Beverly and Caroline for a shots fired call.<\/p>\n
Upon arrivals, officers discovered a male lying in the road suffering from gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n
The victim, later identified as Kelveontay Poole of Jacksonville, was transported to a local hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n
During their investigation, officers were able to contact 20-year-old Jay Longhibler of Jacksonville, who told them that he had shot the man in self-defense.<\/p>\n
Further investigation revealed that Longhibler and Poole had agreed to exchange firearms for money and narcotics.<\/p>\n
According to Jacksonville Police, Longhibler met with Poole and another male to conduct the transaction. During the transaction, one of the males pulled a gun and robbed him of his firearms.<\/p>\n
When the males fled, Longhibler shot at them, and during the exchange of gunfire, Poole was struck.<\/p>\n
Longhibler was then arrested and charged with Capital Murder.<\/p>\n
This is an ongoing investigation and more details will be released as they become available.<\/p>\n
