Marketing and Communications Coordinator Karise Allen-Crew said some of the storefronts will be open on Friday. While the windows won\u2019t be fully decked out this year, she promises next year\u2019s decorations will be \u201cdynamic.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt celebrates the 250th year of Philadelphia,\u201d Allen-Crew said. \u201cIt\u2019s a huge milestone, and it\u2019s just an extra special celebration in Chestnut Hill for us.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia and its neighborhoods are actively gearing up for the big slate of festivities for 2026, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/whyy.org\/articles\/philadelphia-to-host-2026-mlb-all-star-game\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MLB All-Star game<\/a>, several matches of the <a href=\"https:\/\/whyy.org\/series\/world-cup-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FIFA World Cup<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/billypenn.com\/2025\/03\/20\/golf-pga-championship-philadelphia-major-tournament-aronimink-newtown-square-semiquincentennial\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">PGA Championship<\/a>. The city is looking for 10,000 residents, or <a href=\"https:\/\/whyy.org\/articles\/philadelphia-phambassadors-volunteers-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cPhambassadors,\u201d<\/a> to become directly involved in 2026 preparation and events.\n  <\/p>\n<p>City leaders said <a href=\"https:\/\/whyy.org\/articles\/philadelphia-city-council-septa-cuts-funding\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">plans for the 250th anniversary events are on track<\/a>, but SEPTA\u2019s budget crisis could put a snag in how efficiently people can get around for them.
