{"id":262228,"date":"2025-09-28T21:41:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-28T21:41:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/262228\/"},"modified":"2025-09-28T21:41:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-28T21:41:11","slug":"jamie-redknapp-spotted-william-saliba-doing-something-so-smart-just-before-gabriels-arsenal-winner-vs-newcastle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/262228\/","title":{"rendered":"Jamie Redknapp spotted William Saliba doing something so smart just before Gabriel&#8217;s Arsenal winner vs Newcastle"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>William Saliba might have only been a second-half substitute against Newcastle United, but he ended up playing a key role in Arsenal\u2019s comeback win.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/topic\/gabriel-magalhaes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gabriel Magalhaes<\/a> stunned St James\u2019 Park with a 95th-minute winner as the Gunners came from behind to win 2-1 against Newcastle United.<\/p>\n<p>Nick Woltemade thought he had scored the winning goal against <a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/topic\/arsenal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arsenal<\/a>, but two late goals from the visitors saw them turn the game on its head.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"btbf-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@BeyondTheBackFour?sub_confirmation=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">    <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"object-fit:unset\" src=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/custom\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/podcast\/btbf-title.svg\" alt=\"\"\/>  Click to subscribe to the podcast <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"object-fit:unset;height:30px;width:fit-content\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/custom\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/podcast\/youtube.svg\" alt=\"\"\/>  <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jamie Redknapp and Les Ferdinand both spotted something very clever that <a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/topic\/william-saliba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">William Saliba<\/a> was doing, which ended up being crucial towards Gabriel finding the back of the net.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2237610535-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Gabriel scores during Newcastle United v Arsenal in the Premier League\" \/>Photo by Jacques Feeney\/Offside\/Offside via Getty ImagesJamie Redknapp hails William Saliba\u2019s involvement vs Newcastle<\/p>\n<p>Redknapp and Ferdinand both spotted Saliba doing just enough to distract Nick Pope from reaching Martin Odegaard\u2019s corner picking out Gabriel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/topic\/mikel-arteta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mikel Arteta\u2019s<\/a> side are a menace from set pieces, and away at Newcastle, they fully demonstrated their set-piece exploits with a winning goal.<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman was tasked with marking Pope, and made it a nightmare for him trying to defend Odegaard\u2019s superb delivery.<\/p>\n<p>Ferdinand\u00a0told Sky Sports: \u201cPope gets caught in no man\u2019s land, Saliba standing in front of him, he can\u2019t get around him, and he goes to try and get it, but no chance. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen Arsenal do this time and time again, we\u2019ve seen Gabriel do it time and time again, gets into that position, the goalkeeper is in no man\u2019s land, and it\u2019s an open goal for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/mikel-arteta-got-three-big-arsenal-decisions-spot-on-in-dramatic-newcastle-comeback-including-hidden-instruction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arteta\u2019s decision to bring on Saliba<\/a> proved to be a great one, as the Gunners looked defensively more secure and even more threatening from corners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaliba does so well, watch Saliba, he does enough, makes it difficult for him, and I think what Nick Pope is trying to do is he\u2019s trying to rectify a mistake he made earlier.
