With Week 5 of the 2025 Texas high school football season<\/a> in the books, it\u2019s time for the latest SportsDayHS rankings, as voted on by staff writers and editors.<\/p>\n

The top teams in their 6A and 5A ballots received 20 points, the second received 19 and so on. The top teams in Class 4A received five points, and private schools received 10 points. The totals were tallied, and we ranked each team by its composite score.<\/p>\n

Notable: <\/b>DeSoto is back, in case anyone was wondering. A 40-17 win over Waxahachie<\/a>, which beat Duncanville the week before, was a big step toward winning the District 11-6A title. But a showdown with three-time state champion Duncanville on Oct. 10 will go a long way toward deciding which team finishes first in the \u201cDistrict of Doom.\u201d <\/p>\n

Cedar Hill took Lancaster\u2019s place at No. 15 after beating its district rival<\/a>, and Euless Trinity dropped out after a 38-13 loss to Byron Nelson<\/a>. <\/p>\n
