Lana Del Rey<\/a> has joined a local band on stage after she overheard them covering her song \u2018West Coast\u2019 \u2013 watch footage below.<\/p>\n

The Fastest Kids In School were playing a small outdoors show in Santa Barbara, California on Saturday (September 27) and were playing a version of the 2014 song, originally released on Del Rey\u2019s third album \u2018Ultraviolence\u2019.<\/p>\n

Del Rey happened to be walking nearby during the performance and, hearing her song, she approached the band and asked if they would mind if she joined them as a guest vocalist.<\/p>\n

The band captured footage of the unlikely collaboration and have posted it on their Instagram account, writing: \u201cSuper honored\u00a0@honeymoon\u00a0joined us on stage at Institution today! Truly a show we\u2019ll never forget!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Fastest Kids In School\u2019s Dan Grimes also posted to say he \u201cwill never forget\u201d the moment\u201d, explaining: \u201cShe just happened to be walking by while we were playing her song and motioned to see if we wouldn\u2019t mind if she came on stage. Of course we obliged and that is when my head exploded. She was just \u2018out getting some ice cream\u2019 she said.\u201d<\/p>\n

Del Rey is preparing to release the follow-up to 2023\u2019s \u2018Did You Know That There\u2019s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd\u2019<\/a>. The new record had been due to be named \u2018Lasso\u2019, with an initial release date of May 2025<\/a>, but it was pushed back to September when it was renamed \u2018The Right Person Will Stay\u2019<\/a>. Last month, however, Del Rey said she had decided it would now be titled \u2018Stove\u2019 and would be released at the end of January 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When she first announced the album, it was widely reported that she would lean into a country direction, however\u00a0that was then thrown into question when she suggested that she was going to tone that down for a \u201cmore Southern gothic\u201d approach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Details about \u2018Stove\u2019 still remain vague, although\u00a0the singer spoke to\u00a0NME<\/a>\u00a0last year about the album, and suggested that the lyrics might be lighter than on her previous albums.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve maybe less to say in terms of any self-revealing things like on \u2018Tunnel\u2019 or \u2018Blue Bannisters<\/a>\u2019 or \u2018Chemtrails Over The Country Club<\/a>\u2019, and just more melodic,\u201d she told us. \u201cMaybe more American Songbook style?\u201d<\/p>\n

She also added that there would be a \u201cplayful\u201d feel to it than she originally planned, saying: \u201cIf you hang in long enough, it just feels easy. There\u2019s no vindication, no nothing \u2013 I\u2019m just kind of happy to be here. It\u2019s easy-going in that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

This week, Del Rey also responded to a claim from a fan that she had undergone plastic surgery<\/a>.<\/p>\n
