J.T. Miller suffered a non-contact injury at MSG Training Center on Monday and was not able to finish practice.<\/p>\n

The Rangers captain appeared to strain either a groin or a hamstring as he attempted to whack a puck out of the zone while falling to his knees on the ice. <\/p>\n

He stayed down for some time before gingerly skating off, hunched over in apparent pain, to the locker room.<\/p>\n

Since he was being tended to by trainers after practice, Miller was not made available to the media.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s being evaluated,\u201d head coach Mike Sullivan said after the morning skate out on Long Island, ahead of the Rangers\u2019 exhibition matchup with the Islanders at UBS Arena Monday night.<\/p>\n

There was no other update provided by the Blueshirts.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Prior to last season, Miller missed only one or two games in each of the three campaigns from 2021-24. He missed 10 games in 2024-25 while in Vancouver due to the leave of absence he took from the team in November, which was for \u201cpersonal reasons\u201d amid an ongoing feud with Canucks teammate Elias Pettersson.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Miller, who returned to New York in a Jan. 31 trade, was named captain of the Blueshirts<\/a> days before training camp. <\/p>\n

After spending the first six seasons of his NHL career with the Rangers, Miller was brought back to serve in a critical long-term leadership role.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"J.T.
