Overall, it means that the group\u2019s headcount of around 2.1 million worldwide will remain stable over the next three years, despite expectations of higher sales and revenue growth. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe there\u2019s a job in the world that AI won\u2019t change, but I haven\u2019t thought of it,\u201d said chief executive Doug McMillon during a conference with other executives at WMT\u2019s headquarters in Bentonville.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, the company has been tracking which job types decrease, increase and stay steady in order to gauge where additional training can help prepare workers for AI\u2019s onslaught. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to create the opportunity for everybody to make it to the other side,\u201d McMillon said.<\/p>\n<p>That will mean that the types of jobs on offer at Walmart will change significantly. Donna Morris, Walmart\u2019s chief people officer, however, told the WSJ that she was unsure what that new mix might be. <\/p>\n<p> \u201cWe\u2019ve got to do our homework, and so we don\u2019t have those answers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AI Offerings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What it is doing is getting staff ready. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tipranks.com\/news\/walmart-stock-wmt-fails-to-go-bananas-despite-openai-deal-to-train-millions-of-workers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Beginning next year<\/a>, U.S. store and office-based Walmart staff will have access to \u201ccutting-edge AI training\u201d through a new collaboration with tech group OpenAI. That means getting hands-on experience with AI tools. <\/p>\n<p>Its other AI developments include the launch earlier this year of a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tipranks.com\/news\/walmart-expands-tech-offering-with-genai-shopping-assistant?utm_source=theglobeandmail.com&amp;utm_medium=referral\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GenAI-powered shopping assistant called Sparky.<\/a>\u00a0It helps answer product questions from customers and compares options.<\/p>\n<p>It also has internal AI tools such as Wally, which analyzes performance across products, channels and markets for buying merchants to more effectively diagnose stock performance.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, technology is seen by Walmart as key in challenging rivals such as Target <a data-ticker=\"TGT\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tipranks.com\/stocks\/tgt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">(TGT)<\/a> and especially e-commerce giant Amazon <a data-ticker=\"AMZN\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tipranks.com\/stocks\/amzn\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">(AMZN)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is why technology and innovation are seen as a key, above sector average, risk for the business \u2013 see below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tipranks.com\/stocks\/wmt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"991\" height=\"351\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-2430.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2455428\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In a blow to the likes of Tesla <a data-ticker=\"TSLA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tipranks.com\/stocks\/tsla\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">(TSLA)<\/a>, however, the group seems less keen on the idea of humanoid robots.<\/p>\n<p>Several firms have pitched robot workers to Walmart, McMillon said, but he instead values the human touch. \u201cUntil we\u2019re serving humanoid robots and they have the ability to spend money, we\u2019re serving people,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are going to put people in front of people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is WMT a Good Stock to Buy Now?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On TipRanks, WMT has a Strong Buy consensus based on 29 Buy ratings.
