{"id":264971,"date":"2025-09-29T22:51:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-29T22:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/264971\/"},"modified":"2025-09-29T22:51:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T22:51:10","slug":"denver-cio-adds-artificial-intelligence-to-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/264971\/","title":{"rendered":"Denver CIO Adds &#8216;Artificial Intelligence&#8217; to Title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                                    The many opportunities \u2014 and challenges \u2014 of artificial intelligence will become a central focus for Denver\u2019s chief information officer.<\/p>\n<p>So much so that CIO <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.govtech.com\/workforce\/former-state-cio-nallapati-to-take-it-helm-in-denver\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Suma Nallapati\u2019s<\/a> job title has taken on a new twist: chief AI and information officer (CAIO) for the city and county of Denver.<\/p>\n<p>Nallapati, who stepped into her role as CIO two years ago, will take the lead in developing and implementing an AI strategy, which includes policies around governance and equity, according to a city press release. She will also coordinate various AI projects and tools across city departments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Denver is positioning itself as the nation\u2019s most forward-thinking AI city,&#8221; Mayor Mike Johnston said <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denvergov.org\/Government\/Agencies-Departments-Offices\/Agencies-Departments-Offices-Directory\/Mayors-Office\/News\/2025\/CAIO-Announcement\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">in a statement<\/a>. &#8220;Suma has been a visionary leader in technology, and with this expanded role, she will ensure that AI is not only effective but also ethical, inclusive and deeply human-centered. This is about more than just implementing technology; it\u2019s about building public trust, closing opportunity gaps, and ensuring every Denverite has a voice in the future we\u2019re building.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.govtech.com\/artificial-intelligence\/denver-moves-to-create-prequalified-ai-vendor-pool\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Earlier this year<\/a>, Denver issued a request for proposals (RFP) to find qualified AI vendors that can help improve both city operations and the resident experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving a curated, responsive and responsible AI vendor bench allows the city to accelerate the time-to-value for AI projects, reducing procurement time and overhead costs. It also fosters innovation and ensures strategic alignment with the city and mayor&#8217;s goals,\u201d Nallapati told Government Technology.<\/p>\n<p>Since Nallapati assumed the CIO role in Denver, the city has launched several AI-centered projects like Sunny, a multilingual AI chatbot able to assist residents.
