The Scottsdale Fire Department now operates 16 fire stations, serving its more than 245,000 residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cFire Station 612 represents Scottsdale\u2019s commitment to safety and honoring those who serve,\u201d Scottsdale Fire Chief Tom Shannon said in a release.<\/a> \u201cThis facility ensures we can meet the needs of a growing community while providing out firefighters with the resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.\u201d<\/p>\n The station will be showcased in an open house on Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.<\/p>\n Facts about the new fire station<\/p>\n The 12,000 square-foot facility is expected to serve more than 2,000 calls to the northern area of the city per year.<\/p>\n It has four apparatus bays, sleeping quarters for 12 firefighters, a full kitchen and dining area, an OSHA-compliant decontamination area, physical fitness area, locker rooms, bathrooms, office space, laundry facilities and a back-up generator.<\/p>\n According to the release, the building was funded as part of the 2019 Bond Election.<\/p>\n It was a $13.7 million project and features artwork from Maria Salenger of Jones Studio<\/a> in Tempe.<\/p>\n Follow @tomkuebelaz<\/a><\/p>\n We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n Have a story idea or tip?
