In a June 19 appearance on the “Just Trish” podcast,<\/a> the 37-year-old admitted she did try incorporating Ozempic into her weight loss journey, but ultimately decided it wasn’t right for her. This comes after a September 2024 Instagram<\/a> post in which she slammed a commenter who accused her of getting a boost from the drug, writing, “whyyyy do u follow me?.”<\/p>\n

\u201cOzempic works because you eat less food, yeah? So if you eat right, it makes you feel full,\u201d Lizzo told host Trisha Paytas.<\/a> \u201cBut if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it\u2019s the same thing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Instead, the singer told Paytas she chose to focus on changing her diet \u2014 including moving away from a vegan diet \u2014 which she said caused her to eat more food, including “fake meats,” bread, and rice to stay full.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I started actually eating whole foods and eating, like, beef and chicken and fish, I was actually full and not expanding my stomach by putting a lot of fake things in there that [weren\u2019t] actually filling me up,\u201d she said.<\/a><\/p>\n

But while semaglutides like Ozempic or Wegovy \u2013 which have helped celebrities<\/a> like Tracy Morgan, Cheryl Underwood, and Oprah Winfrey lose weight \u2013 didn’t work for Lizzo, she’s not with shaming others for what works for them. She told Paytas in the interview that she believes telling someone that using the drug is cheating is equivalent to being “fatphobic.”<\/p>\n

Commenters on the episode overwhelmingly appreciated Lizzo and Paytas for sharing an honest conversation about a difficult topic.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s so refreshing to hear two women who are not size 4 talk casually about everything!!! I swear you guys are validating & healing me all at once,” wrote someone on YouTube. “I feel like I\u2019m in the room talking w you guys UGH I love it.”<\/p>\n
