JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 CSX Corp.<\/a> has appointed Steve Angel as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 28, following the departure of Joe Hinrichs.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to welcome Steve as our new CEO,\u201d said John Zillmer, Chairman of CSX. \u201cHe is a visionary in creating long-term value and an expert in guiding companies through significant transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Action News Jax told you in August<\/a> when an investor sent a letter to the Jacksonville-based railroad company asking for Hinrichs to step down if a merger with another railroad wasn\u2019t considered.<\/p>\n

The letter criticized CSX\u2019s \u201cdisastrous operational performance\u201d and Hinrichs\u2019 \u201cuse of the company\u2019s private planes and manicuring his social media footprint\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to a news release<\/a> posted on CSX\u2019s website, Angel brings more than 45 years of experience in leading large public companies.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m truly honored to step into the role of CEO and am grateful for the trust that John and the Board of Directors have placed in me,\u201d said Angel.<\/p>\n
