(Chicago Tribune historical photo)<\/p>\n<p><strong>1933: <\/strong>Floyd \u201cBabe\u201d Herman hit for the cycle twice during the 1931 season \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sabr.org\/gamesproj\/game\/july-24-1931-babe-herman-gets-second-career-cycle-as-robins-smash-21-hits-but-still-lose\/\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/sabr.org\/gamesproj\/game\/july-24-1931-babe-herman-gets-second-career-cycle-as-robins-smash-21-hits-but-still-lose\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two months apart<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 when he was with the Brooklyn Dodgers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"cs3pf4XEKc\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2025\/04\/03\/vintage-chicago-tribune-chicago-cubs-mlb-rare-feats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vintage Chicago Tribune: Chicago Cubs who have hit for the cycle<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Two seasons later, as a Cub, he managed his third. Facing Cardinals pitcher Dizzy Dean on Ladies Day in St. Louis, Herman hit a triple in the first inning. (Walter Neal\/Chicago Tribune)<\/p>\n<p><strong>1964:<\/strong> Five weeks before Election Day, Republican Cook County Sheriff\u00a0 and future Illinois Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/chicagotribune.newspapers.com\/article\/chicago-tribune-former-gov-ogilvie-is-d\/182016116\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Richard B. (Frank Hanes\/Chicago Tribune)<\/p>\n<p><strong>1990: <\/strong>On the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2008\/01\/03\/the-last-sox-game-at-old-comiskey-park\/\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2008\/01\/03\/the-last-sox-game-at-old-comiskey-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">final day<\/a> at old Comiskey Park, a crowd of 42,849 fans turned out on a glorious, sunny autumn afternoon to say farewell to what had been proclaimed the \u201cthe Baseball Palace of the World\u201d when it opened July 1, 1910.
