The Fever built a 19-3 lead over the first five-plus minutes, thriving in transition and playing efficiently in half-court offense. They also locked Paige Bueckers out for a single first-quarter field goal. The entire Wings team went without one for a five-minute, 17-second stretch of the opening period.

Meanwhile, the Fever made 76% of their shots from the field in the first quarter — helping the lead swell to 23 at one point. They kept that field goal clip going well into the second quarter.

Fever bend again, eventually break, but find their fix

White went into halftime fuming, though. A sloppy end to the second quarter led to a buzzer-beating deep 3 by Bueckers. What had been a 23-point lead was only 13 at intermission.

With 5:27 left in the third quarter, a basket and and-one free throw by former Fever forward NaLysa Smith cut the deficit to three, 62-59.

Boston and Mitchell combined for eight points and two assists over the next few minutes to push the lead back to nine. But Smith’s late offensive rebound set up Azaih James’ floater in the final seconds. The Fever took a fragile 74-69 lead into the fourth quarter.

Get IndyStar’s Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark coverage sent directly to your inbox with our Caitlin Clark Fever newsletter.

Fever 94, Wings 86: Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell reactions to win Two of the Fever’s veteran stars on…

[5135
5229,4231,1339,19705,2865,233,2866,1596,2470,1495,23301,2862,234,2867,1493,4230,1488,2868,23300,19150,50,450,1457,19704,2471,1451,4232,62,1458,358,3187,67,586,132,5230,68,2969,14378,232,2869,1707
0":"post-26662","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-dallas","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-angeles","10":"tag-basketball","11":"tag-bueckers","12":"tag-caitlin","13":"tag-caitlin-clark","14":"tag-clark","15":"tag-dallas","16":"tag-dallas-wings","17":"tag-fever","18":"tag-howard","19":"tag-indiana","20":"tag-indiana-fever","21":"tag-kelsey","22":"tag-kelsey-mitchell","23":"tag-los","24":"tag-los-angeles-sparks","25":"tag-mitchell","26":"tag-natasha","27":"tag-natasha-howard","28":"tag-news","29":"tag-overall","30":"tag-overall-positive","31":"tag-paige","32":"tag-paige-bueckers","33":"tag-positive","34":"tag-sparks","35":"tag-sports","36":"tag-sports-news","37":"tag-texas","38":"tag-tx","39":"tag-united-states","40":"tag-united-states-of-america","41":"tag-unitedstates","42":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","43":"tag-us","44":"tag-usa","45":"tag-wings","46":"tag-wnba","47":"tag-womens","48":"tag-womens-sports
["GET
