{"id":266661,"date":"2025-09-30T14:01:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T14:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/266661\/"},"modified":"2025-09-30T14:01:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T14:01:09","slug":"gophers-nab-tall-tight-end-from-wisconsin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/266661\/","title":{"rendered":"Gophers nab tall tight end from Wisconsin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Gophers football program picked up a commitment from Wisconsin tight end <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/player\/george-rohl-46154376\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">George Rohl<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The 6-foot-6, 230-pound prospect from Ellsworth flipped his commitment from <a href=\"https:\/\/fightinghawks.com\/sports\/football\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">North Dakota<\/a> to Minnesota to be the 23rd pledge in the U\u2019s 2026 recruiting class.<\/p>\n<p>The three-star prospect traveled 50 miles northwest from his home to Minneapolis for the Gophers\u2019 31-28 win over Rutgers on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Rohl had attended a Wisconsin Badgers camp and visited Camp Randall Stadium for at least one game in 2024, but did not receive a reported offer from his in-state school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve grown up a Wisconsin fan,\u201d Rohl told 247Sports last December. \u201cIt was really cool getting to go there. I really do like them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rohl also received interest from Iowa State and North Dakota State with an offer from Northern Iowa. He switched from offensive line to tight end in middle school and overcame a back injury during his junior year.<\/p>\n<p>The Gophers now have three tight ends in next year\u2019s class: top prospect Roman Voss from Jackson (Minn.) County Central and Gabe Weaver from Mary Institute and St. Louis (Mo.)
