LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Roughly 150 people gathered at the Riverside Park bandshell Monday evening for an hour-long vigil to honor and celebrate the life of Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n
The event featured prayer, worship and a candlelight service as attendees came together to remember Kirk and support his family.<\/p>\n
Jordan Swift, who organized the vigil, emphasized unity during the difficult time.<\/p>\n
“The whole point of this event is unity. I want anyone and everyone to come here, whether they have the same opinions as I do or not. This is about bringing people together and, ultimately, with my faith, glorifying God in the best way that I know how. I absolutely do not think that political violence has a place anywhere,” Swift said.<\/p>\n
The vigil ran from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with organizers providing candles for the service.<\/p>\n
