Ace Hardware sells home construction supplies, such as paint, lawn tools and garden tools.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quick Quack Car Wash<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The car wash chain offers touch free car washes along with free vacuums and dash wipes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expansions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>M.Y. Chockdee Oriental Market &amp; Restaurant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Filipino restaurant and international grocer\u2014owned by Merle Ramirez\u2014is expanding with a dessert shop. The new section of the establishment will sell Halo-halo, a traditional Filipino dessert made from shaved ice and milk, filled with various tropical fruits, nuts and syrups.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Walmart<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This supermarket chain will undergo a $1.8 million renovation project beginning in 2026, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. However, there is no completion timeline available as of press time, the store&#8217;s management team told Community Impact. Work will include a remodel of over 20,000 square feet of the store\u2019s interior, with the addition of 7,000 square feet of new retail space.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the news<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>St. Matthew\u2019s Episcopal Church<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The church celebrated its 60th anniversary Sept. 21. St. Matthews Episcopal Church held its first service in 1965, according to a proclamation made by Universal City staff. The church provides food, rental and utility assistance in the area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>American Legion Post No. 667<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The post commemorated its 50th anniversary Sept. 20. (Courtesy Crepeccino)<strong>Closings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Factory Mattress<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The business closed after its parent company\u2014Southwest Mattress Sales\u2014filed for bankruptcy in June. Factory Mattress sold bed frames, mattresses, lounge chairs and pillow accessories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salad And Go<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Arizona-based restaurant closed its Cibolo location along with several other Houston and North Texas locations. The closures will allow Salad And Go to focus on strengthening the brand while improving quality, CEO Mike Tattersfield said in a news release.
