\n\tOlivia Rodrigo<\/a> welcomed The Cure frontman Robert Smith onto the Pyramid Stage as she wrapped up a politically charged Glastonbury<\/a> Festival on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cdeja vu\u201d singer obliged with all of the fan favorites from her last two albums, Sour and Guts, including \u201cgood 4 u,\u201d \u201cjealousy, jealousy\u201d and \u201ctraitor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHoly fucking shit,\u201d the U.S. star said from the fest\u2019s iconic main stage, where thousands stood to see her perform. \u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever seen so many people in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe brought out Smith \u2014\u00a0\u201cthe greatest songwriter to come out of England\u201d \u2014 nearly midway into the set. The pair played \u201cFriday I\u2019m in Love\u201d and \u201cJust Like Heaven\u201d together.<\/p>\n

\n\tA sweet moment occurred when Rodrigo dedicated the tune \u201cso american\u201d to Brit boyfriend and actor Louis Partridge, who was watching from backstage. \u201cI fucking love England,\u201d she began. \u201cI love the culture. I love how nobody judges you for having a pint at noon. I love English sweets \u2014\u00a0I\u2019ve had three sticky toffee puddings since I arrived.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI also really love English boys,\u201d she continued. \u201cI wrote this next song when I was falling in love with this boy from London and as we were getting to know each other, we were discovering all of these cross-cultural differences. I would make fun of him for eating a jacket potato with beans inside of it. He would make fun of me for pronouncing things very American \u2014\u00a0like Glaston-berry \u2014 so I took all of our little inside jokes and I made a song on that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe annual event, which kicked off Wednesday with a 250,000-plus-person attendance, is the crowning jewel of music festivals. Lorde made a surprise appearanc<\/a>e on Friday as her new album Virgin was born, and Charli xcx thrilled<\/a> Brat fans Saturday night. But this year, things often got political onstage.<\/p>\n

\n\tFestival organizers released a statement Sunday<\/a> after rap duo Bob Vylan chanted \u201cdeath to the IDF\u201d (the Israel Defense Forces) during their set on the West Holts stage on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTheir chants very much crossed a line, and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place at\u00a0Glastonbury\u00a0for antisemitism, hate speech, or incitement to violence,\u201d wrote Emily Eavis, daughter of Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis.<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere, Irish rap trio\u00a0Kneecap also took to the stage to voice their pro-Palestine views<\/a>\u00a0and used the platform to criticize the U.K. and U.S. governments, as well as the U.S. media.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe band, the subjects of Rich Peppiatt\u2019s print-the-legend biopic Kneecap, also thanked the Eavis family for allowing them to play despite pushback from U.K. politicians, including Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy. \u201cA big thank you to the Eavis family,\u201d they said. \u201cThe pressure that that family was under and they stood strong. Fair play to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to The 1975\u2019s Matty Healy<\/a> (the band was the first to headline Friday night), viewers watching the BBC\u2019s live\u00a0Glastonbury\u00a0coverage at home might have been \u201cdisappointed\u201d by the \u201clack of politics in this show.\u201d<\/p>\n
