{"id":26809,"date":"2025-06-30T09:54:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-30T09:54:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/26809\/"},"modified":"2025-06-30T09:54:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-30T09:54:09","slug":"bexar-county-jail-inmate-removed-from-life-support-following-suicide-attempt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/26809\/","title":{"rendered":"Bexar County Jail inmate removed from life support following suicide attempt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANTONIO \u2014 The Bexar County Sheriff\u2019s Office has released more information surrounding the death of a female jail inmate whose suicide attempt was intercepted by a sheriff\u2019s deputy just last week. <\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/news4sanantonio.com\/news\/local\/bexar-county-inmate-dies-after-suicide-attempt-thwarted-by-deputy-during-routine-check-hospital-downtown-jail#\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/news4sanantonio.com\/news\/local\/bexar-county-inmate-dies-after-suicide-attempt-thwarted-by-deputy-during-routine-check-hospital-downtown-jail#\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"noopener\">Bexar County inmate dies after suicide attempt thwarted by deputy during routine check<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to a BCSO statement, Adriana Lastra, 27, was booked into the Bexar County Jail on April 1 on a charge of Assault on a Peace Officer.<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff&#8217;s office says on June 23, <a href=\"https:\/\/news4sanantonio.com\/news\/local\/routine-check-by-deputy-prevents-female-inmates-suicide-attempt-at-bexar-county-jail-bcso-internal-affairs-life-saving-measures\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/news4sanantonio.com\/news\/local\/routine-check-by-deputy-prevents-female-inmates-suicide-attempt-at-bexar-county-jail-bcso-internal-affairs-life-saving-measures\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"noopener\">a sheriff\u2019s deputy was conducting a routine check<\/a> in the Jail Annex 11 minutes ahead of schedule when they discovered Lastra attempting to take her own life. The deputy immediately intervened, using a cutting tool designed for suicide attempts and began life-saving measures.<\/p>\n<p>Facility medical staff took over until first responders with the San Antonio Fire Department arrived and transported Lastra to University Hospital for further treatment.<\/p>\n<p>According to BCSO, on the evening of June 26 at approximately 10:29 p.m., after consulting with medical personnel, Lastra\u2019s family made the decision to remove her from life support.
