{"id":268478,"date":"2025-10-01T06:24:21","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T06:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/268478\/"},"modified":"2025-10-01T06:24:21","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T06:24:21","slug":"man-who-died-in-escondido-fire-had-a-history-of-smoking-while-on-oxygen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/268478\/","title":{"rendered":"Man who died in Escondido fire had a history of smoking while on oxygen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 75-year-old man who died in an Escondido house fire on Saturday had a history of smoking while using an oxygen machine, and authorities are investigating the blaze as an accident, arson investigators said.<\/p>\n<p>The man\u2019s body was found around 4 p.m. shortly after Escondido police and firefighters were called to the scene of a blaze burning at a home on South Upas Street near West Avenue, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The man\u2019s body was found inside one of the rooms after firefighters extinguished the flames.<\/p>\n<p>Escondido police spokesperson Lt. Ryan Hicks\u00a0said the man had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and a do-not-resuscitate order in place.
