{"id":268900,"date":"2025-10-01T10:16:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T10:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/268900\/"},"modified":"2025-10-01T10:16:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T10:16:12","slug":"philadelphia-libraries-air-conditioning-issues-closed-most-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/268900\/","title":{"rendered":"Philadelphia libraries: Air conditioning issues closed most in 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the University City neighborhood, Walker\u2019s Walnut Street West branch shut its doors in early June due to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FLPWalnutStreetWest\/posts\/pfbid0fogr1CB6wF6SCF8u3qry4fHxVYdN6rSjQ7rKrSLdfXWWupZwVC6LyHgswDAMtTu1l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broken air conditioner<\/a> and remained closed until late July. The branch\u2019s air conditioner is at least two decades old and had become less reliable in recent years, Walker said. The branch also<a href=\"https:\/\/whyy.org\/articles\/philadelphia-libraries-air-conditioning-closed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> closed several days last summer due to cooling issues<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The air conditioner] has been sort of limping along for quite a while,\u201d Walker said. \u201cIt finally just kind of needed resuscitation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the branch closed for weeks awaiting contractors and parts, patrons missed out on storytime, literacy and science programming for kids and a community space where neighborhood groups meet, Walker said.
