{"id":269068,"date":"2025-10-01T11:43:36","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T11:43:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/269068\/"},"modified":"2025-10-01T11:43:36","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T11:43:36","slug":"mayor-adams-dated-writer-of-new-tell-all-before-appointing-her-to-160k-nyc-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/269068\/","title":{"rendered":"Mayor Adams dated writer of new tell-all before appointing her to $160K NYC job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mayor Adams\u2019 office confirmed Tuesday that he about a decade ago dated Jasmine Ray, a woman he would later appoint to the newly created role of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/mayors-office\/news\/2022\/12\/mayor-adams-two-key-administration-appointments\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sports czar<\/a>\u201d at City Hall and who is poised to release a book about the \u201chidden relationship\u201d she alleges to have had with the mayor.<\/p>\n<p>In light of the new info about their romantic relationship, Ray\u2019s appointment by Adams to the newly formed City Hall position in late 2022 is drawing condemnation from a government watchdog.<\/p>\n<p>The confirmation from Adams\u2019 team comes after Ray \u2014 whose formal title has been director of sports, wellness and recreation \u2014 announced on social media late Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DPM8SXnknov\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">she\u2019s self-publishing the book this week<\/a>. A city official confirmed Ray resigned from her post Friday \u2014 just two days before the mayor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/09\/28\/mayor-adams-ends-mayoral-ection-campaign-after-weeks-of-pressure-trum-business-mamdani-cuomo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced he\u2019s abandoning his reelection bid<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the shadows of City Hall to the silence of closed-door meetings, Jasmine Ray reveals her untold role in the life of New York City\u2019s mayor, Eric Adams,\u201d reads a description of her book, \u201cPolitical Humanity,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/politicalhumanitybook.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">posted on her website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir hidden relationship \u2014 marked by intimacy, sacrifice, and betrayal \u2014 mirrors the larger struggles of politics itself: the tension between personal humanity and public expectation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"The book cover for &quot;Political Humanity,&quot; by Jasmine Ray.\" width=\"787\" height=\"633\" data- src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Political-Humanity.jpg\" data-attachment-id=\"8537224\" \/>The book cover for &#8220;Political Humanity,&#8221; by Jasmine Ray.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday afternoon, Kayla Mamelak, Adams\u2019 spokeswoman, said the mayor and Ray had a dating relationship roughly a decade ago and haven\u2019t had any romantic engagements since they both started working at City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Adams, 65, is not married, but has for decades considered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2024\/11\/08\/nyc-mayor-adams-partner-retires-from-doe-amid-department-of-investigation-inquiry-into-no-show-job-claim\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tracey Collins<\/a>, a former senior Department of Education official, his domestic partner. Mamelak said Collins was aware of Adams\u2019 relationship with Ray, 42.<\/p>\n<p>Ray\u2019s publicist declined to respond to Mamelak\u2019s comments. Ray\u2019s book is supposed to come out Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>In her role, Ray has been pulling a $161,400 base salary since being appointed by Adams in November 2022.
