The vote passed 11-0, with two mayoral appointees abstaining.<\/p>\n<p>The plan, which is set to take effect in January, will raise the base fare for subways, local buses and Access-A-Ride from $2.90 to $3. Single-ride tickets will increase to $3.50, while express bus fares will rise to $7.25.<\/p>\n<p><b>2.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/news\/2025\/09\/30\/citi-field-casino-proposal-wins-approval-from-advisory-committee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advisory committee advances Citi Field casino proposal<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Mets&#8217; season may have ended, but owner Steve Cohen scored a major win today for his ambitious plans off the field.<\/p>\n<p>A Community Advisory Committee voted 6-0\u00a0to approve Cohen\u2019s proposal to build an $8 billion casino and entertainment complex on a 50-acre parking lot near Citi Field in Queens, advancing the bid to the state level.<\/p>\n<p><b>3.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/politics\/2025\/09\/30\/new-york-sues-over-dhs-cutting-counterterrorism-funding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York sues over DHS cutting counterterrorism funding to state<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>New York joined a coalition of 11 other states suing to stop the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from cutting counterterrorism funding from the state, Gov. Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James said today.<\/p>\n<p>According to the governor\u2019s office, DHS is reducing New York\u2019s allocation by 86%, from $187 million to $30 million. When divided that&#8217;s estimated to be a $100 million cut to the NYPD; a $15 million cut to the FDNY; a $13 million cut to Joint Task Force Empire Shield; and millions of dollars in cuts that directly support counties, sheriffs and police departments.<\/p>\n<p><b>4.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/politics\/2025\/09\/30\/resiliency-climate-change\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mayor&#8217;s race light on climate resiliency discussions<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>There are major coastal and flood resiliency projects underway that the next mayor will inherit.<\/p>\n<p>While resiliency efforts have gotten little attention on the campaign trail, candidates running for mayor do have ideas and records on safeguarding New York from devastating floods.<\/p>\n<p><b>5.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/news\/2025\/09\/30\/a-look-at-the-issues-facing-tottenville-voters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A look at the issues on the minds of Tottenville voters<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>NY1 is visiting neighborhoods across the five boroughs ahead of Election Day.<\/p>\n<p>Political reporter Ayana Harry recently spent the day in the Tottenville neighborhood of Staten Island.
