Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert appeared as guests on each other\u2019s late-night talk shows on Tuesday night and discussed the cancellation of Colbert\u2019s \u201cThe Late Show\u201d and the recent controversial suspension of \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live,\u201d while taking some jabs at President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

In his opening monologue<\/a>, Kimmel announced Colbert will be a guest on his show and he will simultaneously be a guest on \u201cThe Late Show\u201d, and said: \u201cWe’re doing something unprecedented tonight\u2026We thought it might be a fun way to drive the president nuts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel joked about it being the show \u201cthe FCC doesn’t want you to see,\u201d before showing photos of signs above Highway 101 in Los Angeles, which read: \u201cPublic pressure works\u2014Kimmel is back!\u201d and \u201cNow do Colbert.\u201d<\/p>\n

While interviewing Colbert, Kimmel quipped about the two of them being put in \u201cGuantanamo Bay together\u201d before asking about his show\u2019s cancellation.<\/p>\n

Colbert learned about the cancellation from James Dixon\u2014who is both his and Kimmel\u2019s manager\u2014after returning from a vacation, and said that after his long meeting to discuss this, his wife\u2014who was unaware\u2014jokingly asked him, \u201cWhat happened, did you get canceled?\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel said he was at the \u201cNo Kings\u201d protest march with his wife and kids when he found out Colbert\u2019s show had been canceled and added: \u201cI was just absolutely shocked because it’s not right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Colbert also shared a clip of him finding out during a taping of his show that Kimmel had been pulled off the air by ABC, where he appears shocked, says \u201cwow\u2019 a few times, and then steps off stage, telling his audience, \u201cI want to find out what this is about.\u201d<\/p>\n

What Did Kimmel Say On Colbert\u2019s Show?<\/p>\n

After Colbert welcomed Kimmel on his show, who then quickly took<\/a> a swipe at the president, saying, \u201cI’m so honored to be here with my fellow no-talent late-night loser. We have to stick together.\u201d Kimmel said his nearly week-long suspension by ABC was an \u201cemotional roller coaster\u201d and \u201cvery strange.\u201d Kimmel said he found out about the suspension just an hour and a half before he was set to tape his show on September 17. Kimmel said he had to take the call from the network executives in the bathroom, where they told him, \u201cListen, we wanna take the temperature down. We\u2019re concerned about what you\u2019re gonna say tonight, and we decided that the best route is to take the show off the air tonight.\u201d Colbert\u2019s audience then booed, and Kimmel noted, \u201cThat\u2019s what I said, I started booing.\u201d Kimmel said he disagreed with the decision, which was put to a vote. Immediately after this, Kimmel said he believed \u201cThat\u2019s it. It\u2019s over\u2026I\u2019m never coming back on the air.\u201d The comedian noted that as the suspension news came through, his audience had already been seated at the studio.<\/p>\n

What Did They Say About President Trump?<\/p>\n

On his show, Colbert asked Kimmel<\/a>, when he was a radio DJ in the early part of his career, \u201cDid you ever think the president of the United States would be celebrating your unemployment?\u201d Kimmel responded: \u201cI mean, that son of a bitch\u2026No, I never imagined that we\u2019d ever have a president like this, and I hope we don\u2019t ever have another president like this again. I never even imagined there would ever be a situation in which the president of our country was celebrating hundreds of Americans losing their jobs.
