(Photo courtesy of Port of San Diego)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/Port of San Diego\" rel=\"nofollow\">Port of San Diego<\/a> leaders this week joined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollandamerica.com\/en\/us\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Holland America Line<\/a> to kick off the 2025-2026 cruise season, which will include 107 voyages and is expected to welcome more than 389,000 passengers to the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to set sail on another cruise season alongside long-time partners, Holland America Line,\u201d said Danielle Moore, chair of the port\u2019s Board of Port Commissioners. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful for all our cruise line partners including Norwegian Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, and more for choosing San Diego as a homeport or as a destination on their journeys.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach cruise is an opportunity to welcome new and returning visitors to our beautiful waterfront, while also supporting local jobs and bringing guests to experience our region\u2019s amazing attractions, hotels and restaurants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The region\u2019s cruise season actually began with Royal Caribbean\u2019s Serenade of the Seas on Sept. 19, followed by Holland America\u2019s 51-day excursion of the South Pacific onboard the Zaandam and Princess Cruises\u2019 Caribbean Princess on Monday.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Cruise season is officially here!<\/p>\n<p>Each arrival to our city brings new visitors and a big economic boost for our waterfront and our local businesses and landmarks.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to the Port of San Diego for being a great partner in helping our city\u2019s tourism sector grow. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3MCgkIZqgx\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/3MCgkIZqgx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Councilmember Stephen Whitburn (@CMWhitburnD3) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CMWhitburnD3\/status\/1972807766457905661?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">September 29, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSan Diego is a vital and vibrant homeport for Holland America Line, offering the perfect combination of convenience, sunshine and access to some of the world\u2019s most iconic destinations \u2014 for both locals and out-of-towners,\u201d said Dan Rough, vice president of revenue management for Holland America Line.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe season we\u2019ve built allows travelers to experience bucket-list journeys as well as quick getaways, all from downtown San Diego\u2019s convenient B Street Pier \u2014 and across the season, our sailings will infuse nearly $56 million into the San Diego economy, supporting local jobs, businesses and the broader tourism community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The port has seen an uptick in the cruise lines making call in San Diego, including 21 visits by Norwegian Cruise Line for the first time this year.
