NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Jurors are set to start deliberating Monday in Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs<\/a> \u2019 sex trafficking case<\/a>, weighing charges that could put the hip-hop mogul in prison for life.<\/p>\n

After receiving legal instructions from federal Judge Arun Subramanian, the jury<\/a> of eight men and four women will head behind closed doors to deliberate. They\u2019ll sift through seven weeks of sometimes graphic and emotional testimony about the rap, fashion and reality TV impresario<\/a> \u2018s propensity for violence and his sexual predilections, including drug-fueled sex marathons dubbed \u201c freak-offs<\/a> \u201d or \u201chotel nights.\u201d<\/p>\n

Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty<\/a> to federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex trafficking \u2014 relating to two of his ex-girlfriends \u2014 and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution for allegedly arranging to fly sex workers across state lines.<\/p>\n

In closing arguments last week, federal prosecutors and Combs\u2019 defense team took their last shots at convincing jurors to convict or acquit the Grammy Award-winning founder of Bad Boy Records. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe defendant used power, violence and fear to get what he wanted,\u201d Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik said<\/a>. \u201cHe thought that his fame, wealth and power put him above the law.\u201d<\/p>\n

Defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo countered<\/a>, \u201cThis isn\u2019t about crime. It\u2019s about money.\u201d He noted that one of Combs\u2019 accusers in the criminal case also sued him in civil court.<\/p>\n

In all, 34 witnesses testified, headlined by Combs\u2019 former girlfriends Cassie<\/a> \u2014 the R&B singer born Casandra Ventura \u2014 and \u201c Jane<\/a>,\u201d who testified under a pseudonym. Both women said he often was violent toward them and forced them into hundreds of sexual encounters with paid male sex workers.<\/p>\n

Jurors also saw now-infamous security camera video<\/a> of Combs beating, kicking and dragging Cassie at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016 and clips from videos of sexual encounters.<\/p>\n

Combs chose not to testify<\/a>, and his lawyers didn\u2019t call any witnesses in their defense case. His attorneys elected instead to challenge the accusers\u2019 credibility during lengthy cross-examination questioning.<\/p>\n

The defense has acknowledged that Combs veered into violence, but his lawyers maintain<\/a> that the sex acts were consensual.
