Starring alongside John Travolta in the generational hit Grease, she became the highest-selling female artist in Australia of all time with hits like \u201cPhysical\u201d and \u201cI Honestly Love You.\u201d On this day in 1975, the four-time Grammy Award winner was at No. 1 on the country albums charts with If You Love Me, Let Me Know. <\/p>\n<p>The title track\u2014Olivia Newton-John\u2019s highest-charting single\u2014was written by the late British musician John Rostill and was part of Newton-John\u2019s third North American album, which became her first Billboard 200 chart-topper. Although often overshadowed by its successor, \u201cI Honestly Love You,\u201d the song sees our narrator pleading for clarity in a romantic relationship. If you love me let me know, Newton-John sings in the chorus. If you don\u2019t then let me go \/ I can\u2019t take another minute \/ Of a day without you near. Who hasn\u2019t been there?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf You Love Me (Let Me Know)\u201d became the highest-charting country single of Newton-John\u2019s career, ascending all the way to No. 2 on the Billboard country chart. Just two years before his untimely death at age 42, Elvis Presley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beaconjournal.com\/story\/news\/2025\/07\/06\/elvis-presley-thrilled-fans-at-richfield-coliseum-shows-in-july-1975\/84390544007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">took the stage<\/a> in July 1975 at Richfield Coliseum in Northeast Ohio. Arriving by private jet, the King of Rock and Roll performed a mixture of his own hits and cover songs, including Newton-John\u2019s \u201cIf You Love Me\u201d and \u201cLet Me Be There.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Presley also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=f2d1IUaeBjc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">released a recording<\/a> of \u201cIf You Love Me\u201d on his final studio album, Moody Blue, which dropped about four weeks before his death of cardiac arrest at his Graceland home.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, the Queen of Rock and Roll couldn\u2019t resist Olivia Newton-John\u2019s hit.
