On Wednesday SMU Athletics<\/a> announced that it had received a $1 million donation to the Student-Athlete Benefit Fund from Doyle and Somer Glass.<\/p>\n

The Glass family, who have \u201clong been champions of SMU,\u201d according to a press release by the SMU Mustang Club, is gifting the university its first seven-figure contribution toward SMU\u2019s revenue-sharing-related fundraising initiatives.<\/p>\n

The Student-Athlete Benefit Fund was created in response to the NCAA\u2019s evolving revenue-sharing model and NIL landscape, according to the release. The fund supports SMU\u2019s ability to provide direct financial benefits to student-athletes while sustaining the department\u2019s momentum in the Atlantic Coast Conference.<\/p>\n

Doyle Glass is known for his work as a sculptor and a historical novelist. He and Somer currently reside in Dallas and are members of the Mustang Club.<\/p>\n
