The death of a man whose body was found at an industrial site in Adelaide’s south earlier this week <\/strong>is now being treated as a major crime, police say.<\/p>\n

The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Moana father-of-two Chris Robertson, and police said his body was found at a Lonsdale workshop on O’Sullivan’s Beach Road.<\/p>\n

They were called to the scene about 2pm on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

“We now know that Chris was murdered,” Major Crime Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

“Chris was inside the premises \u2014 it is an open shed area. A person who frequents these premises did find him, raise the alarm and police were called.”<\/p>\n

A post-mortem revealed Mr Robertson \u2014 a father of two young children \u2014 was assaulted and that his injuries led to his death, police said.<\/p>\n

Police said Mr Robertson had been celebrating the AFL Grand Final on Saturday with several friends and that the celebrations moved to “several locations”.<\/p>\n

“We believe that he was last seen on Saturday \u2014 we’re still working through some other, technical inquiries just in terms of trying to place him and who saw him last,” Superintendent Fielke said.<\/p>\n

“We’re just trying to establish whether this [workshop] was ultimately one of the places where some of those celebrations were happening.<\/p>\n

“We are seeking assistance from people who were celebrating with Chris or who know Chris more broadly to piece together his movements over the last week.”<\/p>\n

SA Police said it was investigating possible bikie links to the crime, but said there was no information to suggest that Mr Robertson was connected to motorcycle gangs.<\/p>\n

“We are aware that there is some speculation in relation to this incident that may involve outlaw motorcycle gang connections,” Superintendent Fielke said.<\/p>\n

“This is a line of inquiry we are exploring. It is not discounted and that is all I can say on that particular matter at this point in time.”<\/p>\n

Mr Robertson had five siblings and police said his death “has shattered many families”.<\/p>\n

“Each of those families is now coming to terms with their loss and dealing with his tragic death,” Superintendent Fielke said.<\/p>\n

Police are examining CCTV from premises around the Lonsdale workshop “to identify any vehicles or individuals [that] may be connected” <\/strong>and said the site itself was now being searched.<\/p>\n

“We are working through why Chris was at this location \u2014 we can’t confirm yet what Chris’s connection is,” Superintendent Fielke said.<\/p>\n

“This premises has been locked down for the last couple of days while we’ve gone through \u2026 preliminary processes.<\/p>\n

“This is the first opportunity that we’ve had to thoroughly search the premises.”<\/p>\n

Superintendent Fielke said Mr Robertson’s murder was not being treated as a random attack, but police had not identified a suspect.<\/p>\n

“We have no information any weapons were used,” he said.<\/p>\n
