There is a lot of pressure on players to continue winning after claiming their first-ever title.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rising American star Learner Tien<\/a> was looking to win his first ATP<\/a> title at the China Open<\/a> after beating the likes of Daniil Medvedev<\/a>, Lorenzo Musetti<\/a> and Francisco Cerundolo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, that was not to be the case, with Tien beaten by Jannik Sinner in the China Open final<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tien<\/a> may not have been able to win his first title yet, but another American teenager on the WTA<\/a> Tour did, but things have not gone so well for her since then.<\/p>\n

Last month, 17-year-old Iva Jovic won the Guadalajara Open<\/a>, which is a WTA 500-level tournament, after beating Emiliana Arango in the final.<\/p>\n

This did not come as a surprise to some, with Jovic being widely spoken about by the likes of Coco Gauff<\/a> as an up-and-coming American talent for some time.<\/p>\n

As a result of her triumph, she was rewarded with a career-high ranking of world number 36, with Jovic backed to go even higher next year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, it has not been so much of a successful time for Jovic<\/a> since then, starting at the China Open, where she was actually one of the seeded players.<\/p>\n

In her only match at the Beijing tournament, Jovic lost to German Eva Lys in three sets, despite having a 5-2 lead in the decider.<\/p>\n

Lys has since reached the quarterfinals of the China Open, so in hindsight this loss does not appear to be too much to fret about.<\/p>\n

Despite making a big jump up the rankings after her Guadalajara victory, Jovic did not want to just sit on the sidelines and decided to play a lower-level WTA 125 tournament in Suzhou, China.<\/p>\n

Jovic was the top seed at this event, but lost in the first round after being beaten in straight sets by world number 146, Lulu Sun.<\/p>\n

The disparity in their rankings makes this look like a very poor defeat for Jovic, but Sun is a former Wimbledon<\/a> quarterfinalist and has found some form recently after winning a different WTA 125 event in Jingshan, China.<\/p>\n

After taking the WTA 125 title in Jingshan two days ago, Lulu Sun puts herself near the top of the list to lift the trophy in Suzhou.<\/p>\n

What is next for Iva Jovic after her latest defeat?<\/p>\n

Despite the recent defeats, it has still been a huge breakout season for Jovic, who began the year ranked at world number 191.<\/p>\n

This ranking rise has been as a result of playing all four Grand Slams for the first time in one season, and winning titles at the Guadalajara Open<\/a> and a WTA 125 event on the grass of Ilkley.<\/p>\n

Jovic will now look to continue rising up the rankings, as she looks to become seeded for the Australian Open<\/a> next year.<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old has 191 ranking points to defend until the 2026 season, with Jovic winning two ITF titles this time last year.<\/p>\n

Jovic\u2019s next tournament will be the Wuhan Open<\/a>, but as the entry list came out before she won the Guadalajara Open, the world number 37 will actually have to play in the qualifying draw unless she receives a wildcard.<\/p>\n

She is also entered into a WTA 250 tournament in Osaka, where Naomi Osaka<\/a> is set to be the top seed.<\/p>\n
