Scott Brown \/ Android Authority<\/p>\n<p>TL;DR<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Samsung reportedly has a notification summary feature in the latest One UI 8.5 build.<\/li>\n<li>This feature will use AI to summarize your notifications, much like Apple\u2019s polarizing effort.<\/li>\n<li>In saying so, it looks like Samsung is using Google\u2019s work-in-progress notification summary feature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Apple debuted AI-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/apple-notification-summary-fails-3516336\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notification summaries on iPhones<\/a> last year, and it quickly gained controversy thanks to some seriously inaccurate results. We know that Google is working on notification summaries for Android, and it looks like this functionality is coming to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/best-samsung-phones-771831\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Samsung phones<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t want to miss the best from Android Authority?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/andauth.co\/AAGooglePreferredSource\" class=\"e_No\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\"><img class=\"e_ih\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  title=\"google preferred source badge light@2x\"  alt=\"google preferred source badge light@2x\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/google_preferred_source_badge_light@2x.png\"\/><img class=\"e_ih\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  title=\"google preferred source badge dark@2x\"  alt=\"google preferred source badge dark@2x\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/google_preferred_source_badge_dark@2x.png\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sammobile.com\/news\/one-ui-8-5-ai-notification-summaries-galaxy-devices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SamMobile<\/a> discovered a notification summary feature in the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/samsung-galaxy-phones-new-upcoming-features-one-ui-8-5-3600158\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">One UI 8.5<\/a> firmware, although it\u2019s not working right now. The outlet says you\u2019ll see a pop-up explaining the feature after pulling down the notification shade for the first time. Check out the screenshots below.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"e_ih\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  title=\"Samsung One UI 8.5 AI notification summaries SamMobile 1\"  alt=\"Samsung One UI 8.5 AI notification summaries SamMobile 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Samsung-One-UI-8.5-AI-notification-summaries-SamMobile-1.jpg\"\/><img class=\"e_ih\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  title=\"Samsung One UI 8.5 AI notification summaries SamMobile 2\"  alt=\"Samsung One UI 8.5 AI notification summaries SamMobile 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Samsung-One-UI-8.5-AI-notification-summaries-SamMobile-2.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The second screenshot reveals how notification summaries will work, and it appears that this is derived from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/android-notification-summaries-leak-3574675\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google\u2019s own notification summary feature<\/a>. Much like Google\u2019s feature, Samsung\u2019s summaries only apply to \u201clong messages and group conversations.\u201d The description also specifically notes that your messages are never sent to Google, while the graphic is identical to one we uncovered for Google\u2019s notification summary feature. It all lends credence to the idea that this is a Google feature rather than one specifically built by Samsung. The screenshot also has a <strong>Manage apps<\/strong> field, allowing you to exclude specific apps from receiving notification summaries. That\u2019s in line with Google\u2019s feature, too.<\/p>\n<p>In any event, SamMobile claims that this feature relies on Google\u2019s cloud, but the second screenshot specifically mentions that it uses \u201cAI on your device.\u201d So, I imagine that this feature would use Gemini Nano or another local AI model. Local processing would be particularly important for private conversations, after all. Either way, I really hope this notification summary feature isn\u2019t as inaccurate as Apple\u2019s take.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for being part of our community.
